OOOPS! Tesla Cam Catches Model S Autopilot Ramming Stopped Vehicle
Should we reiterate? Yes, we must! Today’s cars aren’t fully autonomous. It may be some time before we reach Level 5 autonomy or even Level 4. C’mon, even level 3 right now is a stretch! Keep your fricking hands on or at least near the mother-fricking steering wheel and stay alert! Or at least be awake, aware, and able to take control at a moment’s notice. Watching this Tesla Model S involved in a high-speed crash should surely help to wake you up. Maybe …

Does one accident prove that it isn't? Math dude. 3,200 people DIE in car accidents each day.

Tesla better call big brother Mercedes and ask them to supply their distronic radar guided cruise control in addition to the gear selector, trunk release, window switchgear they already supply Tesla.

Benz has been using this system sense the early 2000’s, tested in the 90’s without epic failures repeatedly seen by Tesla

I'm not sure Autopilot was even on. Hear the triple beep? That is the sound of you need to take immediate action now or something bad is going to happen. I have yet to year it when on AP mode. Also the auto-braking slows the car down at high speeds for some lame reason, it doesn't come to a complete stop. Think it is 35mph, so if you are driving 60mph it will slow down to 25 if it senses an accident. This is only for manual mode, if you are using cruise control or AP it will come to a stop.

And AP is technically Level 2 right now. You can use some cheats to turn it into Level 3 on the highway but that is highly not recommended.

So what you are saying is that there are LOTS of excuses built into the system that indemnifies Tesla when something happens.

All of them are reasons why YOU should not actually use the systems.

Absolutely no excuse in this case. It's simply a distracted driver causing the crash, then bold enough to post it - just to get clicks, and we fall for it.

RTFM, especially if your life is on the line. After watching it several times, I don't think AP was even on. Sounds like they were arguing and not paying attention to the road.

And maybe they weren't paying attention because autopilot was ON?????

More like human failed first and foremost. If autopilot isn't on, that is not autopilot's fault. I think it may have braked last minute to reduce the speed by X amount, but think it should brake to 0 like some other systems instead of just reducing impact--at least have it as an option.
