Next Gen Jaguar F-Type May Be BMW Powered

Jaguar design director Ian Callum recently said “there’s not a plan” to replace the F-Type quite yet, but that hasn’t stopped Car Magazine from reporting a redesigned model could arrive in 2020.

While there have been countless rumors about the next-generation F-Type, the publication is bucking the rumor mill by saying the model will remain front-engined. While have a handful of reports have claimed the car will be mid-engined, Car says that’s an entirely different model altogether.

I think the first Land Rover from 2003 had a BMW V8. No need to return to those days. I doubt much of this story is true. JLR could easily make their own twin turbo V6 or V8 for the F-Type or any other model.

It would not surprise me if the number of ENGINE makers was reduced in the future- such is already the case with Transmissions. A consortium of makers could pool their resources and come up with viable options that would save money in the market place
