Outside of the left coast, try to find someone to put a strong number on a Tesla for trade.

On the east coast - if you have a Tesla - first find a dealer who WILL take it in trade. THERE is virtually no wholesale market for the cars based on their "SERVICE" exclusivity. (Ie - only a company owned service center can access the computers on a Tesla.) A lot of dealers will not even get involved - because they have no way of checking the systems.

We won't consider a Tesla in trade or as a used car that we put on the lot. Too much hassle that becomes too much of a headache.

Do you see Tesla anywhere on the list? Resale value is excellent.

What kind of fool would buy a used Tesla, from a third-party other than Tesla?

Tesla has basically broadcast that it has the MONOPOLY on EVERYTHING Tesla - so good luck with your 4 year old, dead-battery, 5,000 pound, doorstop if you shopped locally.

That begs the question of "what kind of fool would buy a Tesla in the first place"?

They need to be lease only, autofools.

This is a misleading title. It's NOT "EVs". It's **AN** (one specific) EV, followed by a specific plug-in gasoline/electric hybrid that lead in depreciation.

ADD: Following very closely behind the #1 and #2 spot, within 1/10th of a percentage point, is a gasser, followed by other gasoline vehicles.

So based on this data, it would be much more accurate to have a deadline that read "8 out of the 10 worst depreciating cars are gasoline-powered", but that would not stir up nearly as much controversy, right?

Of course EVs should depreciate the most. They are like used PCs. The technology is improving so that current cars are outdated in just a few years, so who wants outdated crap?

These “study” should know better, EV like nissan leaf gets $7500 federal tax credit and $2500 state rebate in California. These factors throw the maths out the window...

Tesla is another animal as stated above, most dealerships won’t touch it so good luck trying to trade one in...

Looking at the various depreciation studies and one year ownership, it becomes clear BMW's has the major issue, cars and SUVs. VW and MB not far behind with their cars.
