I'd say the $70s for a loaded GL- Mercs are always overpriced when they're loaded, and a more well-equipped loaded Q7 will set you back about $67K.

a gl 320cdi costs over 100000 US dollars in britain.

The GL-Class looks pretty good IMO. Tough and muscular. And if it wins MT's "SUV of the year award", it had to do something that impressed them.

Either way, I want diesel SUV's to come here!

MERC reported 1800 GL or R CLass that were not "sold" last month as "demo" cars so they could get them off the books and report the sales.

GL is the class of the field, and the new X5 is a nick behind. Range Rover sport next. thats it, not many other true alternatives for the luxury SUV buyer. If you had to you can drop to the next tier of the LX, Toureg, Q7 etc.

Escalade for almost equal dollar against the GL is rubbish. I rather pay for GL, Q7, X5 for that money I'd pay for an Escalade. Simply for quality and durability. However the Escalade looks PIMP! lol

Modern Mercs in the past year or two have got better in quality and durability. Their slowly coming back up in the standings. Perhaps with the 100,000 mile warranty that's the only reason why there are Escalade owners :P. Their nice and comfortable but I rather trust the Big III from Germany.

For the German three in reliability, it goes...

1. Audi
2. BMW
3. Mercedes

They still have a little while to go.
