Why is this a Hyundai? Is Genesis off the burner yet again?

True. It does seem that Hyundai is yet again hurting the Genesis brand with radical designs for Hyundai & Kia full-size SUV.
A set of black or gunmetal wheels would complement the big Kia well.
I like this competition nonetheless.

Hyundai is - and has always tried - to compete with the largest Mass Market Brands. Until recently - the only one of them outside Korea that did not have a full size SUV was VW. Certainly Ford,FCA/Jeep,Chevy,Toyota ...etc have had them.
So - they would have to have one too.
Obviously - the equipment level will determine if it should have been a Genesis - but Genesis is simply not working yet.

The history of Genesis from the dealer perspective has been:
Hey we have a new car coming called Genesis BH380. It will begin our premium brand named Genesis.
Scratch that. We'll sell it as a Hyundai Genesis.
We're also going to sell the Equus, but it won't be a Genesis.
Hey we should have gone forward with Genesis as a brand, so we'll do that with the next Genesis.
Well, we've changed our minds. The new Genesis will still be a Hyundai Genesis.
We changed our minds again and we're going to rename the Hyundai Genesis the Genesis G80. We're calling the new Equus the Genesis G90.
Hey, we're doing stand-alone dealers, so buy land and get ready to start construction of Genesis-approved dealership designs.
Hey, sorry you bought land and in some cases broke ground, but we changed our minds and we're going to sell our premium brand next to the Accent on the showroom floor.
Hope that isn't a problem.
Dealers have quietly taken Genesis cars largely off their lots in some cases in protest.
Then you watch as Kia gets the Telluride and Hyundai a Palisade when The large crossover should have been a Genesis.
Dealers are livid.

I'm curious why does Hyundai act like people are not going to react to the cars that are catching on fire?
