Look Out Audi: Teaser Indicates Cadillac XT4-V May Be In The Works

Thanks to a rogue sketch on the Cadillac website, the American luxury brand all-but confirmed its working to V-ify its XT4 subcompact crossover SUV. The sketch shows the crossover sporting a big driver-side exhaust pipe (presumably a second pipe also protrudes from the passenger side) and a stylized ‘V’ badge on the tailgate.

While the sketch only shows the vehicle’s rear, we expect the upcoming XT4 variant to also wear a more aggressive front fascia and model-specific wheels and tires. Whether the model will be dubbed XT4-V or XT4 V-Sport remains to be seen; however, we anticipate that Cadillac will welcome a milder XT4 V-Sport trim before possibly adding a wilder XT4-V model to the lineup.

The market has moved to Crossovers - and FCA has shown with the Stelvio that you can make a reasonably well performing High vehicle - so I expect that will be the next area that the manufacturers are going to go for more profit.

As the "Performance" arm of Cadillac - the "V" series are like the AMG or M series - allowing the regular version to retain their luxury - yet offering something to the reviewers who want road race cars or nothing.

At some point - people learned how to ignore comments regarding various attributes of cars complained about by reviewers - that they personally have little interest in. That is why Consumers reports has an audience - they at least review the cars based on the real market they are supposed to satisfy.

Funny how "Audi" was never mentioned in the article. There is currently no SQ3 or RSQ3 fo which an XT4-V would compete. 009's obsession with Audi is uncomfortable.
