RUMOR: FIRST Look At The All-new Ford "Baby Bronco" And The Reports Are IN — IF It Has THIS Face, Are YOU Excited Already?

RUMOR: FIRST Look At The All-new Ford
More news stemming from this week's Las Vegas-held dealer meeting with Ford corporate. According to the latest reports, not only was the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 shown. There was a lot more on display.

The latest indicates that the all-new Ranger was actually driven, a rear-wheel drive Explorer made an appearance, the redesigned Escape showed up and the "baby Bronco," was revealed.

Our inside source has passed along intel to us signaling that the face of the rugged, compact sport-utility vehicle that will slot under the Bronco will sport a similar face akin to the current-gen Expedition.

We've got to ask: IF this rumor is on the money, would you be disappointed with a "baby Bronco" that has an Expedition's look? Were you hoping for something more unique? All indications seem to point to the real deal Bronco taking a very retro slant a la the return of the Ford GT in the early 2000s. So, the baby can't take the same path.

...Some 4,000 dealers from around the country gathered here this week looking for answers inside the same ballroom at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino where, in 2008, former CEO Alan Mulally showed the new Taurus that would help Ford brave the recession under his "One Ford" rallying cry.

This time, dealers wanted to know what new products they’d be selling to fund Ford's investment in autonomous vehicles. Some were still angry at not having been warned before Ford announced it would stop selling sedans within the next few years...

...Dealers drove the 2019 Ranger in Las Vegas. They saw the new rear-wheel drive Explorer, redesigned Escape, as-yet-unnamed 2020 battery electric vehicle, an unnamed small "rugged" SUV some call the baby Bronco, and the Mustang GT 500...

I think there is a tremendously untapped market for a small crossover that has butch styling rather than the femsoft styling that so many small crossovers have.

VW would have a runaway hit if they did a sub-Tiguan crossover that revived some of the military-chic look of the Thing.

Ram should have a version of the Compass that draws on the look of the Power Wagon.

A Jeep that borrowed the look of the Wangler and put it on a Renegade replacement would be genius.

So the baby Bronco will have the chrome face? Hmm....jury out.

Big mistake. It should look more like the wrangler vs a generic crossover. The front end of the concept would have been a better choice.

No surprise that cooperation between VW & Ford is in the works. Both can screw up a lot of "stuff"

The above comment coming from me, a Ford guy. We will see how long I remain a Ford guy.

Ford is good at things that VW is terrible at. VW has things Ford could use to revitalize Lincoln. Then there is electrification. There is China.

I think the heavy retro look has run its course.
The Camaro and almost ALL BMWs are examples of staying too long with the same styling - even when the vehicles are otherwise ALL NEW.
Even the Mustang has gotten old much quicker to me than in the past.

For decades - Gm and Ford stylists managed to change the looks of cars every year - planning on a styling change for the next year - and come up with some Striking designs (As well as some stinkers-Edsel For example) - TOday - with all of the computer aids available -that in the end you have to have a microscope to see the differences between this year and last year is simply ridiculous and boring.

If you really want the OLD look of a Bronco - buy an old Bronco.
Today - we can do much better.

The evidence is to the contrary.

TomM: with all due respect to you (and I always don't agree with you), The Bronco retro from 2004 that has made appearances on the internet, could be on my to buy list. All the others pictures I have looked at would be on my do not buy list.

What I'm obviously looking at is a picture of the Expedition. If someone wants to throw a picture of a current Ford model on the net and call it a Bronco. At least use the Ford Everest that most Americans have likely never seen or in most cases heard of. Dealers have zero information about either Bronco or the GT500, or do they have ordering information. The only new vehicle from Ford and due on lots soon is the Ranger. Everything else is total speculation.

I think Ford has a styling crisis that almost rivals BMW (which has a HUGE styling crisis with its hodge-podge of SUV's and sedans and sort-of sports vehicles that all try to keep pace with the front-end look of BMW's circa 1993 or so).

Ford's styling is a complete hodge podge also and one benefit of ditching the 'sedans' is that it might bring more styling cohesion to the lineup.

The Raptor is handsome but I think the F-Series truck line is Fugly (though the sales rate may indicate otherwise). The Expedition is awkwardly proportioned and the front end is not handsome.

The Fusion face on the Mustang was too far.

Why stray from your design heritage that people are clamoring for! Ford of all people (Mustang) should know this.

If they didn't want to go retro then it should resemble the raptor from the front....Using a generic crossover front end on a Bronco is the worst possible move.

It looks ZERO like the Expedition, ZERO like anything we have. 1st in the line of a few Broncos. I was at the meeting. They are doing these right.
