Wall Street Holds It's Breath Pending Tesla Earnings Report

After months of "production hell," then a period of mayhem involving Elon Musk, Tesla Inc. may finally be entering a new era -- one in which it makes money.

The electric-car maker is approaching its earnings report today with much of Wall Street suddenly gushing with enthusiasm about its prospects. Real profits or creative reporting? Read the footnotes not the headline to be sure.

Yup. Does anyone really expect Tesla to turn a profit? Analysts dicker about how big the losses will be.

OF course Tesla is going to turn a profit on the books - TheSTEVE -

THe question is - what are they going to leave out of the numbers to make it happen. I have learned not to trust Musk for numbers over the years - and a good (Or bad) accounting firm - can make an Edsel look like a sure thing.

i hope they make money, doubt it... but i do hope that Tesla makes money, if only to prod other manufacturere's a bit.

Most of the other manufacturers have been making money for decades - a SINGLE quarter of Profits for Tesla does not make them a PROD - although maybe their cars could be cattle prods.

I'll believe the profit numbers when I see how Tesla handles amortization of development and tooling costs, capital depreciation and other expenses plus
the cash flow statement.

MrEE: "doubters" implies they have some reasons to doubt. These people are just trolling regardless of the facts. Just laugh it off!

Tesla profits are going to explode starting right now. If you think the Model 3 is going bonkers, Just wait for the Model Y. That is going to kick in the teeth of everyone- Jag, Audi, Benz, bring them all on. the Model Y will be the new mall crawler seen everywhere. Reveal March 2019, only 5 months away. Profits now mean the naysayers here and elsewhere can go pound sand. Just go pound sand. It really sucks to lose, doesn’t it.

And using those fast chargers all the time also speeds battery degradation as does "topping off" without sufficient discharge.
