Land Rover Promises A Fresher And More Capable Defender - Who Should Be Worried?
Redesigning an off-road icon like the Land Rover Defender from the ground up can be no easy feat. That could be why the British manufacturer has been taking its time on this project. But once it's finally ready, the new Defender will, technologically speaking, emerge lightyears ahead of the bare-bones, old-school workhorse that it'll eventually replace.

“Technology is going to be mandatory in the new Defender. You simply can’t build this kind of vehicle without it anymore. You can’t achieve the emissions levels and you cannot achieve the CO2 levels required of vehicles these days," Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth told CarAdvice.

And anybody who is replacing their current vehicle and waiting for the new Defender. Land Rover has been promising a new Defender since the DC100 Concept in 2011. It should be getting ready for a refresh in its second generation, instead the article it will launch in "a couple of years from now." Who cares.
The Genesis G70 time to market seems speedy by comparison - oh wait, it will not come out until after the first of the year."

Only Rover owners should worry about Rover. You need two: One to enjoy while the other is in the shop.

Obviously TESLA should be worried.

IT is likely that the base price models of this vehicle will be available right from the beginning - and that could reduce the number of people waiting for the base price model 3.

MDarringer, I would welcome this conversation. It is not easy to successfully launch a new luxury brand. They seem to have fumbled from the beginning.

Jazzy, now that you pointed out the Kia Soul likeness, that is all I see in this picture. The difference is the Kia will spend less time (a lot less) than a Land Rover.
