EXCLUSIVE: All-new Feature On The Latest Jeep Wrangler (JL)! Rotten Resale Value!

EXCLUSIVE: All-new Feature On The Latest Jeep Wrangler (JL)! Rotten Resale Value!
One of the most anticipated 2018 model year vehicles was the all-new Jeep Wrangler. Dubbed the JL, it had big shoes to fill. That's because the previous generation JK was much loved, all around.

And just like the Chevrolet Corvette or Porsche 911, replacing the Jeep Wrangler generation-to-generation is always a difficult balancing act. Judging from some digging around the Agents have done, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) may have slipped up a bit.

That's because the JL Rubicon and Sahara models are getting crushed on the wholesale market.

From what we can see, the JKs are holding value much better on the open market. WHY do you think this is, Spies?

Could it be the recall issue on the JLs? Could it be a packaging problem? The softer lines and all-new interior aren't utilitarian enough?

What say you, Spies?

Maybe the faux off road buyers who bought Jeeps for the rugged good looks and outdoor panache transferred to a buyer's image have realized these are not comfortable, do not drive well on the road and are slow are now turning to more comfortable, more powerful, more stylish on road SUV's.

So the resale of the JL Wrangler is low? Why are people dumping what is essentially a new car? THAT is the real question.

1 - FCA has raised the prices up so much that the used car market simply has been unable to keep in step
2 - Eventually - Jeeps legendary lack of reliability was bound to catch up with them - there are only so many people who will give them a third chance.

Another moronic theory from Tommy Tom Tom. The Wrangler has been a big seller for several decades. If the supposed reliability issues were going to destroy sales it would have happened by now.

Unreliable yeah ok, maybe if abused and neglected. I have a 94 Wrangler that has used hard offroad and on but never abused. 350k miles later it is still a daily driver and could be driven across the country if need be. Regular maintenace like on any vehicle is the key to reliability and longevity. Only somebody with zero personal experience with them would repeat such nonsense.

2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (LJ) with 235,000 miles, and only thing I've had to replace is a heater core and a windshield washer pump. Yeah, unreliable.

How can you have rotten resale value when the JL has been out for less then a year and DCA doesn't even offer a 1 year lease, wait until the 3 year leases are up and the market actually has a supply to compare to at the auctions. Everyone knows vehicles lose most of their value in the first year and tapers off from that point. Are you the only one who purchased a JL and are trying to get out of it? Here in Ca. you spend an additional 10% for sales tax and lic. just to drive off the lot and unfortunately the state of Ca. will not refund any portion of the sales tax once you purchase it. The only way to not pay full sales tax here is to lease and pay taxes as you go and if you don't wish to purchase it at the end of the lease you don't owe the balance of the sales tax.

The problem is their trying to make the Wrangler a family car. Guys you have plenty of family cars. Cherokee Compass Grand Cherokee. Leave the Wrangler alone.

Jeep was built as a lone wolf, leader, adventurer. Weather on a trail with other automobiles or on a car lot. When someone says "here is a Jeep" it stands out. They don't say here is another SUV, or another 4X4. "LOOK ITS A JEEP" So quit trying to make it "Honey here is another SUV" and make it like 1941, the leader, the lone wolf. If you make it, others will follow.

That's old news...The JK had UNREAL resale value. The BEST. Not this JL. Getting crushed right now in wholesale auctions.
