GM Smells The Money And Breaks With Trump: Wants EV Vehicles MANDATORY Across The US
The Trump administration wants to end California’s requirement for automakers to sell more electric cars in the state each year. General Motors has a different idea: adopt the rule nationwide.

GM plans to propose that federal regulators embrace a nationwide electric-car sales program starting in 2021, patterned on California’s so-called zero emission vehicle sales mandate that requires manufacturers to sell more EVs each year.

@MD - How about hate speech twisted and packaged as populist rhetoric that has led to the killing of 10 people in a Synagogue? The overflowing swap? Or a series of mail-bombs sent to those who dare speak out about the stream of constant lies emanating from the White House? Or $22T in national debt that nobody seems to care about? Or enough indictments of former White House and campaign staff to make up a football team? No clean water in Flint Michigan? A $1.5T tax break (adding to the $22T national debt) for corporations and the rich thrown on to a roaring economy like gasoline on a fire? A military industrial complex that always, always gets fed with tax dollars? No Universal Health Care? Take your pick! Forget left and right, focus on the middle of the road Mom and Dad suburban US voter. They know this all stinks to high Heaven and this is not the America they grew up in. That's who's coming out in November...

Since this also has absolutely no chance of getting past the white house for the foreseeable future - so GM can make all the statements it wants to - they are meaningless. Even in California - eventually they will consider the emissions to produce the electric to charge the cars as part of the equation - making the cars NOT pure green.

They have a lead on other major manufacturers and want to exploit it. Keep government subsidy out of it. The market lead on competitors should be enough.

Damned straight. If people don't want your vehicles, then create a law that compels them to buy them.

Otherwise, you can just do what GM did a few years back: Go bankrupt, get a mountain of bailout money, and then send the bill to taxpayers. You still get their money, but without those pesky marketing expenses and those middle-men dealers.

(That's sarcasm, in case it's not readily apparent to you.)
