We have seen this act before, not a good sign. Significant overcapacity and increased competition from Asia foreshadows major pain throughout the industry, particularly when the next economic downturn occurs.

Even though they posted better than expected numbers, and the stock went up GM just doesnt get it. They're celebrating their Average transaction price is way up but as a consumer that does nothing for me except look at how much better their competitors are and at a better value. They need to be better than everyone else to grow and they just deliver "enough". Mary Barra should be cut loose as she is a lifer and they need an outsider to clean up the culture. The marketing is ehh... the quality is ok, the cars are "competitive" and their new trucks are just barely better than their replacements but all new. They have significant engineering horsepower and they simply must deliver a better car at a better value. I'm not holding my breath for GM....

They need to fold Buick in the USA and have Cadillac be their lone step up. A merger with Toyota would be a good move.

Trump would say yes in a heartbeat because it would protect American jobs. It so is NOT anti-competitive. Consolidation is happening rapidly. FCA will need someone soon. Ford is flirting with VW...

Trump is also railing against Birth-rite citizenship when he has NO ability to change the constitution by executive order.

Sorry - what Boris Trump says is no longer a consideration -
But the fact is - GM and Toyota combining is a terrible idea - there is far too much overlap in their product portfolios - and even YOU would be hard pressed to find anything truly spectacular about either brands offerings (Maybe except the Vette) But Combining the two would do nothing to save American Jobs - when the problem is that GM has underutilized production capacity in the USA -that still would have to be closed.

Always got to go there don’t you Tom. The 14th amendment was adopted in 1868, after the Civil War, and addresses the equal protection and rights of former slaves. The 14th amendment limits the action of state and local officials. In addition to equal protection under the law to all citizens, the amendment also addresses what is called "due process", which prevents citizens from being illegally deprived of life, liberty, or property. This was done by Republicans so DemoRats couldn’t persecute freed slaves. BTW: This interpretation was instituted by none other than the murderer Ted Kennedy and LBJ under the “great society” plan where LBJ said he was going to ensure DemoRats got the minority vote (not HIS words) for the next 200 years. This is also where you're wrong: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof”
if your parents are subject to the jurisdiction of another nation, IE they're not citizens... perhaps you aren’t either. Either way it’s going to the SC and I predict it will end anchor babies and illegals coming here and having babies to secure citizenship.... it needs to end. Enjoy your V12 650 and all the gas others won’t get to use because you're so greedy. Do as I say not as I do…
