Tesla To Avoid Import Tariffs In China By Building Model 3 There

Tesla Inc. said on Friday that it is developing plans to start producing about 3,000 Model 3 vehicles per week in Shanghai in the initial phase of its Gigafactory 3 to reduce the impact of tariffs.

The company also said in a filing that Model S and Model X sales in China have been, and will likely continue to be, hurt by recently increased tariffs imposed by the Chinese government on U.S.-manufactured vehicles.

It was inevitable that Manufacturers would move their production of Vehicles to China to avoid that Tariffs of the Tramp Administration - costing thousands of American jobs in the process. The overall production costs alone are much lower in China to begin with - so many manufacturers have opened plants in China - notably Virtually ALL Chinese market Cadillacs are made there - as well as as number of Buicks that are not even sold here.

With what is not the largest Auto Market on earth in China (Although USA still leads in total money - because more high end cars are sold here) - now that TRAMP has forced that issue - it is unlikely that we will EVER recover those jobs once the Plants are already open.

Blow it out your ass and stick to commenting on trannys -of which you are the tranny expert here. Trumps tariffs have nothing to do with Tesla going to China -that is your senile Trump derangement syndrome talking.

China is a massive market for Tesla and they are opening a plant there to escape the 25% import tariffs and take advantage of child slave labor like rates compared to US/Canuck manufacturing costs just like every other opportunistic manufacturer. Trump is just trying to make trade fair with China -the worlds largest cheaters and currency manipulators and good for Trump for sticking up for America but that pisses commie bastards off like yourself.

If you are so sick of Trumps tax cuts to the wealthy as you like to mis-label them then sell your Maybach and give your money to the poor and volunteer 90% of your income to the IRS and then you can come here and talk down to us "lesser" beings. Hypocrite!

China has a 25% tariff on autos imported into the country, while the USA has a 2.5% tariff. To compete in the Chinese market vehicles need to be made there in plants 50% owned by a Chinese partner who has then has the right to your patents. Tesla was the first company that was allowed to build/produce there without a 50% partner because the Chinese governments wants EVs. Those are the facts Tom. Where are you getting your information?

My Chinese girlfriend would be deeply offended by your statement if she wasn't laughing her ass off and agreeing with it. We need more humor in life and the ability to laugh at each other once more again.

Elon's end goal is and always was to sell Tesla, but his drug addiction and pedophilia trips to Bangkok may have gotten him off track. Thus, by building Teslas in tents, when the company is sold, all the tooling can easily be shipped to China and once again NUMMI will be abandoned.

In China they are starting production easily in 2019 by using a very similar highly-manual and labor intensive line like what is in the GA4 tent. With cheap labor in China, it may actually be less expensive to build that way than in GA3 (hundreds of robots that are very expensive to maintain and keep running).
