Mercedes Model-X Killing EQC EV Crossover To Enter Production Next Spring

If you’re in the market for an electric car and Mercedes’ EQC has convinced you to make the purchase, you might need to arm yourself with patience.

You see, Mercedes-Benz hasn’t even started production of its first electric crossover, as Daimler subsidiary Accumotive, which is in charge of building the batteries for the EQC, is still in the recruitment phase. No wonder TESLA is killing everyone. How many TESLA's will be on the road by then?

MB had a great concept 2-3 years back that went nowhere. What the heck is taking them so long.

Before Tesla became a definite boutique EV retailer - with cars & SUVs that provide reasonable driving range & astounding performance (so equipped), the major automakers were developing EV models with the intent to save energy. That didn't translate to lightning fast 0-60 times with battery tech for faster recharge duration.

GM & Toyota had EV's ready for sale but they're more for urban usage, less so for regular long distance traveling & definitely no blazing fast performance as well. All the other automakers had to basically switch gears, benchmark Tesla performance stats, & find compromises based on their estimates for consumer interest & overall costs to test & manufacture. And they cant just piece a competitive vehicle together to sell - it has to operate, perform, & be maintainable like the average ICE products they already make.

lol indeed, lot of talk and not a lot to show for it

Model X is getting an interior refresh in 2019, AP hardware 3... likely won't be killed anytime soon.
