Tesla Claims New Roadster Will Be The

The latest-generation Tesla Roadster is coming and it is promising to be something very special indeed.

While there are a number of ICE hypercars gunning for record-breaking performance numbers, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk says the new Roadster will top all of them.

During an interview with Recode, the outspoken executive said that it is important for an electric sports car to top all petrol-powered alternatives.

“We’ve got the next-generation Roadster. Which will be the fastest sports car on every dimension,” he said.

Agree 100%
Fastest to discharge.
Fastest to be overhyped.
Fastest to arrive at double the projected price.
Fastest to drive you into a stationary object.
Fastest to get Tesla snowflakes to predict the end of Porsche, Lamborghini, et. al.

There will always be a market for exotic cars that are worse than cheaper products. The GT-R blows away 90% of exotics for a price that is shockingly reasonable, yet Lambos and Ferrari's are still around.

If it has the fastest top speed, fastest 0-60, 0-100, and the greatest amount of single tank range... come on that would be pretty freakin impressive.

I wonder sometimes why MDarringer comments on 100% of the posts when every time it's to say something negative. Why spending so much time on this site if you hate anything related to cars?

With that said, I can't wait to see one in person even though, I won't see it for long before it breaches the horizon.

No San Jose -

1 - All of the Hyper-exotocs have already exceeded the performance a sane person would consider using without being professionally trained - and on a closed circuit. The difference between 0-60 is one second (which would create major g-forces if it could happen)_ and 2 seconds in the real world - is whether your eyes blinked. While many cars manage to talk major performance at the "ring" - few car owners have access to drive there. Driving like that on public roads will get you put away.
2 - Hypercars do not sell completely on performance - they sell based on prestige and exclusivity - Tesla would need to come up with a new Brand to compete at that level (OR buy one).
3 - Few hypercars last - there will always be the new TOY to have - as a result these you cannot depend on long productions of many vehicles for years.

The Chevy Corvette in best trim can outperform LOTS of Hypercars of yesterday and even some from Today - why is it IT does not control most of the market - IT is a CHEVY.

and LaurentC You're a hypocrite because you're being negative.

As for negativity, I'm hardly the only Negative Nathan here. The white-garbed, burning-cross EV crowd is quite capable of unleashing negativity.

You need to get out of the way, snowflake.

The Tesla Model S and X are pretty much the fastest cars out right now. On this very site you have an article about the Model s our running the Lambo, Benz and the Rover. There are hundreds of YouTube videos online with Tesla’s out running our favorite exotics at the track.
Whether you guys like them or not the Tesla’s are straight line fast and relatively accessible for the upper middle class. That’s why BMW, Porsche and every other sports car maker is loosing their shit trying to build a competitor.

Again, you show how little you know about Teslas (or electric cars in general). You can launch the car hundreds of times and still hit the rated 0-60 figure. Repeated launches will not overheat the battery... sustained high speed (120+ mph) driving is what will put a limiter on power output.

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is now the King of the Ring for the time being. The McLaren Speedtail might be quicker. The Tesla Roadster might be quicker. Or not. They will tall have their day in court out on the Ring.

Hilarious! No Tesla can beat any other car on a course that has turns. The fastest Tesla so far is the Model 3 performance package. Even with race tires it still is slower at Laguna Seca than a 10 year old BMW M3 (check the lap times).

Nice try though!

YOU have to wonder about the Mixed Signals from Tesla - who pushed the idea an autonomous vehicle to the limit for a while until they cut back do to obvious problems. THey have been saying that eventually you will not even own your car - you will simply order up one when you need it and have it drive you around. I do not know about you - but I have no intention of allowing anyone's autonomous programming to drive me around at these claimed speeds - nor do I think anyone will e given the opportunity.

In addition to the problems with Infrastructure - which I have constantly brought up - TESLA has two problems that eliminate it from consideration for me

1 - Only TESLA service centers have the ability to access the Tesla Computers - for EVERY service that requires a reset of the computer -I would have to factor in TOWING my Vehicle to the nearest TESLA service center so they can make sure MY repairs meet their requirements to reset the computers! ANd they have already chosen NOT to for some. What if the computer disabled the car for a minor fender bender - normally I would be able to drive away and fix the problem later. With Tesla - I now cannot do that - because the car needs to go to the dealer to have the computer reset - and if the repairs at a later date take the computer down - another tow to the Tesla service center.
2 - THERE are only a handful of Tesla service centers in the country - so that tow might be hundreds of miles and cost over $1000.

Most repairs can now be done using Tesla mobile service. I've used the service once even though there are 9 Tesla service centers in the Bay Area, and I can't imagine an easier way to do a repair. Issues get addressed at your work or home, no tow needed.

Do we really have a need to reach 60mph faster than 2.5 seconds? Or whatever the current fastest time is
