BMW Introduces The 370HP M340i Ahead Of Los Angeles Motor Show Debut

Set to make its debut at the Los Angeles motor show at the end of November, the performance flagship sits above the 330i in the upcoming G20-generation 3 Series range.

The M340i marks the first time that BMW’s sporting sub-division has preceded the model number of a 3 Series, reflecting the volume of design and tuning elements carried over from full-blown performance models such as the M3.

I'll bash BMW as much as the next person on styling...but there is really nothing better than a BMW engine/transmission combo.

The M340i looks to be a nice product.

I think 3.5" twin round exhaust tips would have suited the M340i better, but other than that, it looks pretty good.

Agreed those exhausts look like an after thought.

Definitely better than C43 in HP. I think BMW finally hit it right with 3-series. Not much can be said for the new X5. X5 rear looks a Dogde

That’s a pretty big bump but definitely needed, right in the middle of the class. The 2019 C43 now has 385. S4 still has 354 but Quattro puts it down nicely. G70 has 365.

Good point, I didn't know about 2019 C43 HP. So would you take this over C43? C-Class starts to show its age.

If I had to make a choice at this price point I would go with the S5 Sportback, at least until I see where BMW goes its their next 4 series gran coupe. Or I’d go with the C43 Coupe.

If it only came down to a choice between the M340i and C43, I would go M340i

BMW designer simply has gone crazy... In the front what are all these lines chopping off a simple 3 parts air intake/dam? In the rear what are these ripples around exhaust pipes? What are the relationship of Form/Function here?!!

Lame... BMW has successfully dethroned Lexus to claim the 'Predator' look!

Right on, they should take the pens away from the designers about three weeks before they think they are finished. It is almost as if they are bored so they just while away on tinkering with strange shapes on the front and rear of the car.

Agreed. They seem to be going with the “if we make the front and rear overly tacky and outrageous then people will call this ‘design’ “ approach from Lexus.

Must be a big yawn, a 370hp family sedan deserves that at least.
