Forget The Russians, The Chinese Are Recruiting US Dealers RIGHT NOW

China's Zotye Automobile International Co. has begun recruiting U.S. dealers and has charged two import-industry veterans with the task of bringing a budget crossover to America in 2020.

The distributor will be Zotye USA of Lake Forest, Calif., which is led by former Mazda and Volvo executive Duke Hale, owner of HAAH Automotive Holdings, Hale said in a statement Tuesday. Longtime Hyundai Motor America executive Bob Pradzinski will be senior vice president of sales. The company will also handle parts and service.

Don't know what that has to do with cars -

Maybe they will offer the new Russian Limo in the USA for those who cannot buy the American Original. Do not see the point in impeaching a car though.

I hope it will do well. Current SUV prices are through the roof and well beyond affordable for many family.

Think back to when Hyundai first came to the USA - you could get a Hyundai along with a Root Beer - and the soda cost more than the car. THe very basic cars actually ran - reliability not so much though - performance (Forward and reverse came standard!)- and they were basically cheap Mitsubishi's under the paint.

This is what to expect from the Chinese. ANd with a recession sure to come in the next couple of years - our recovery is petering out already - people who are priced out of the real new car market will be able to buy these things with 2 hot dogs down. It may take years for them to get a reputation (any reputation) - and Hyundai's reputation is still mired in those initial powered go carts - but people actually spent real money to buy a YUGO back then too.

Ah, just what America has been begging for, for decades: That legendary Chinese automotive engineering, fit and finish, and reputation for low defects...
...NOT! =:-D

Paint me skeptical, but I'm curious how this will unfold.

What the hell does "Forget the Russians" have to do with China taking a foothold in our auto market?

It's an attractive vehicle. I'd drive one for a few months.

While its not bad looking China should not just have access to our market. For decades any company wanting to sell there faced enormous tariffs OR you had to have a JV w/some crap Chinese company, had to build in China and had to share technology, thats the price one had to pay. There should be zero differences for the Chinese here. Their industry only exists because of these practices now they want to undercut other mfrs in their home markets... No Chinese made cars here w/o identical tariffs for the same period of time. (they're only looking at lifting them now because they want to start exporting). AND they must build in the USA w/American employees (not "workers"). Wonder how the Chinese would respond to the UAW... THAT I'd love to see!
