Maybach Launches the 62 S Edition

IMO , this is the most pointless vehicle in history. When ppl coniseder spending this much of money, they wont care about performance.

Then why did VAG make the veyron? Hell this at least seats more then two people.

oh look at me lapping a race circut with a M 62S n racing and racing on the the streets, and bragging about how fast my super luxury car reaches 100km.

okay you bitch and complain about things that you think are important. im guessing you (like me and most other people) cannot afford a 62s so instead of praising this machine you crap all over for no reason other than it being too powerful for rich people to care. maybe if honda made this HUGE car with a 2.0 4cyl then you would like it better. then everyone could see you driving past for a long, long, long time because you are moving so slow fat people are passing you on segways.

M53R is right. The owners of these things arent driving them, they have drivers. I am pretty sure they dont care whether it does 0-62 in 5 or 10 seconds. If you want to drive buy a Ferrari. Those rich guys would probably get pissed if the driver stepped on the gas too hard and let them spill their champangne. Limo's are cruisers not performance cars.

People who buy these cars just want the bragging rights at their local Golf club. Also, there is "prestige" in owning such a powerful car because other people will be jealous (environmental implications aside).

couldn't have put it better myself. that statement exactly. It's not NEED, it's WANT. Get one thing clear fellas, in today's society, it's all about bragging rights. If two people have the same car, but one has a little more umph under the hood, that owner has one more up on the other guy.

The power is there even if they'll never use it and the owners will be fine with it. For instance, how come the Continental GT and the Continental Flying Spur pack so much punch in their coupe's and saloons? They'll never use it but they still purchase it.

So don't be picking on Maybach for making this car when it's competitions are up there as well in terms of performance.

It's much like an expensive Rolex. One without Diamonds would make people envious. However if you had diamonds on that Rolex it would only make that piece even more envy prone. Much like the Maybach 62 S engine. More punch, more bragging rights, more power, more prestigue, more engineering, more money spent. In this case more is better.

Good point Agent63 but i doubt alot of Maybach owners know how much hp there car has. I would have preferred if that S stood for Strech and the put another foot on the length of these hugh things. i am pretty sure more Maybach customers would be interested in that than a gain in hp.

honestly its nice to have someone drive you around most of the time, like if you ahve work to do or a schedule to plan, its also safer while making an office out of your normal commutes.

however if it was me, i would still get behind the wheel from time to time just to get on it. i like driving and i couldn't let my driver have all the fun. i also think some people (famous or not) are also like this.

When the Maybach first came out, they put in a black cardboard room so no "poor" people would sell it. They sold about six at that dealer since it came out. I constanty see it with dealer employees "taking it to the gas station". Funny

Mercedes is just groping for money here... Maybach is a stinker. They need a new car, and fast. I sat in one (it was unlocked) right in the middle of the Benz dealer in NY, on a little vacation. It's nice, but not that much nicer than an S600, to command 3X the price.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'd rather have a Phantom.

But I'd take a Flying Spur over both. It's not as much of a boat, has an equally stunning interior and 550hp twin-turbo W12 baby, yeah!

There is no way in hell you could be serious, the Maybach is the most luxurious car in the world, hands down, no argument..To take the phantom or worse the bentley over it, is a mistake..
