Do These Fresh Mid-Engined Corvette Renders Whet Your Apetite For The Real Thing?
Some fresh renderings of the hotly anticipated mid-engine Corvette are doing the rounds over at MidEngineCorvetteForum.com, courtesy of a forum member named

. We won’t attempt to decipher the meaning in the name, partially because we don’t even know where to begin, but mostly because our attention falls to these amazing renders.
We have some of them below, but there are quite few more over at the forum in different colors and wearing minor changes to the sail panels that we recommend checking out. Renderings have been all the rage on Chevrolet’s forthcoming supercar since its existence was first confirmed some time ago, and with the camouflage getting thinner on test cars, talented artists have been able to imagine some of the features we can't otherwise see.

Not really. I think it will turn out to be a mistake.

To be a hit Corvette better make a design statement, such as the strange yet functional beauty of recent McLaren.

Looks old school, the current design is better by far!

Mid engined cars so often have real problems with achieving pleasing proportions. That is the case here big time. This looks like a gargantuan Fiero.

Harvey Earl and Bill Mitchell must be rolling over in their graves.

I can personally attest to the loveliness of the Z06.

I have learned not to judge purely by drawn depictions - and not even completely by often cryptic pictures.
It really makes no difference for the first few months though - the Corvette will sell like hotcakes no matter
And while I always caution against buying the first year of a completely new car - If I am still here - I think this might be something I would buy the second year.

To the purist. The C8 is something completely new and different from Corvettes from years past. From renderings, the C8 looks good, but if the ZR1 is in the $123,000 range. I'm guessing The new C8 will exceed $150,000. Again. A different vehicle. Mid Engine. New technology.

But why does it have to look so dull, derivative, and style-free?

I think it looks great and as Tom said, it’s a CAD design caricature. Wish it had round tail lights though, such a classic design cue. I hope it’s fabulous and the interior is even better. GM needs to not disappoint with this. That said it needs to be the elevated Vette while the current model stays with us. 2 cars the Stingray and the Zora... I hope GM has the cojones…

I agree that you are looking at a computer rendering and not accurate. Look at the renderings that came out ahead of the current C7. I will wait until it is launched.
Still, the current car is gorgeous and will likely be sold along with the C8 for a while. Hopefully Chevy can make it a brand and please no 4 door coupe ala the Mustang.
