#LAAutoShow: BREAKING! All-new Images LEAK Of REFRESHED Genesis G90 — Thoughts?
As the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS) creeps just around the bend, more vehicles are starting to emerge. This one's a bit of a whopper.

Hyundai's luxury division, Genesis, revealed the flagship G90 not too long ago. Having had the chance to drive it, I actually dug it quite a bit. I would have definitely picked that up over, say, the last-gen Lexus LS.

LEAKED! Genesis G90

But, it seems that slow sales may have spurred the need for a drastic redesign of the large luxury sedan.

While I brought you sketches of the refreshed G90 just days ago, we've got a nice batch of images via Carscoops. According to that publication, they don't exactly know where the images came about. Regardless, it has them and we're bringing them to you now.

Although the interior looks largely like a carryover, the exterior gets a more aggressive look. Check out the all-new front grille, headlights, and rear end. The side profile remains largely the same.

Do you see anything else, Spies?

What are YOUR first impressions of the refreshed G90? Is it enough? Was it too much?

Stay tuned for more 2018 LA Auto Show coverage, right here on AutoSpies.com!

Looks better than I thought it would and loads better than the current G90.

I’m thinking the opposite, looks worse than expected.

This brand continues to have no brand identity. Grille is an Audi and Alfa. Tail design is Lincoln. Headlights are Volvo-like.

There is some Toyota Avalon in the rear too

In addition, there are really no shared design elements (that I can see) with the current G80 or new G70. The only common element is the mesh in the grille while the actual shape of the grilles differs. Yes, I know the Germans have been criticized for their different-sizes-same-shape design approaches, but that does help with brand identity.

This car is what happens when you try to be "all things to all people". They should just focus on creating their own core identity and stop pilfering design cues (and designers) from other manufacturers.

Yes Alfa "crushes" Genesis yet Alfa's sales are abysmal. If you think this is an Alfa grille, you're blind.

Get back to me when you figure out which dealer you're going to accuse me of owning instead of being all over the planet with your flailing.

Sales of Alfa Romeos are TERRIBLE. Even the crossover Stelvio is dead in the water for sales.

Why is Hyundai, Kia and Genesis so slow to notice that sedans are in a decline? Here it is Genesis is wasting money giving a car a facelift when they need to be unveiling crossovers by now. And while we at it, why would Kia make the K900 10K more expensive then the previous model? Are they slow to realize that the auto market is more a crossover market now?

MDarringerMDarringer - 11/21/2018 10:37:14 AM

Yet another bit of the story in the Genesis dealer outrage is that prospective dealers were promised a range of crossovers by now and then Hyundai did an oopsie and decided to regroup. The marketing arm inside Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is moronic. Kia does not need the Cadenza and Stinger at the same price point and it surely does not need the K900. The G90 would be a smash seller for $50K which is where it should be. I happen to like the Stinger I'm driving for the moment, but It's $5K overpriced.

They still make their cars to be appealing in other markets/countries where big luxury sedans are still greatly appreciated. Getting the Genesis brand up & running in the US was big success for Hyundai. Their bread-and-butter is still their Hyundai/Kia brand vehicles. They're throwing out big ideas & seeing what "sticks"...so they can just roll with the flow of consumer demand.

Hyundai needs to AX out the Cadenza and Azera models. Honda is responding to the changing market. Ford and GM are also responding to the changing market knowing to increase CUVs and less sedan. Yet meanwhile Genesis has like 4 new Genesis sedans. While the Benz and BMW have something Genesis lacks......utility vehicles.

Fact: the Azera has been axed from the American market.
Fact: Genesis has 3 sedans.
Fact: Honda is astoundingly adrift at the moment.

How is Honda adrift? Accord and Civic are still selling very well and the "experts" love these sedans. Pilot has increased sales substantially, CR-V is killing it. Passport to debut next week, filling a gap in their SUV lineup. HR-V selling okay, not great, but not a failure considering it's a pretty lame product overall.

The Accord is languishing for sales. The CRV is about to get hit hard by the new RAV4. Honda is way behind in the nearly passe hybrid race. They are non-existent with a credible EV. For Christ's sake, rudderless Nissan has a credible EV. The Clarity can go 89 miles then it dies for hours at a time. Over at their Acura trim level is nothing but also-ran thinking. Honda and BMW are sliding right now.

The Accord isn’t languishing anymore than any other sedan on the market that isn’t wholesaling to fleet. The CR-V isn’t worried about the RAV4. They will both sell well regardless of the other's presence. And if direct comparisons are any indication the CR-V is still the superior product (see Motor Trend comparison this month). Let’s not forget what I already mentioned. Pilot sales are way up. Passport is debuting next week. RDX just set an annual sales record before the year is even over. MDX sales are still leading chief rivals.

Yes I do agree that Honda's EV efforts are sadly behind Chevy and Nissan.

I see we are going to act like Hyundai is the only brand with Audi Grilles? Lets bring them allllllll the Audi grilles to the kitchen table. Lexus, Mazda and Mitsubishi. But because they not Korean they can get away from copying Audi's grilles.

MDarringer, what's the point of the Cadezna, Stinger and K900 being 10K mores expensive though? They need to AX something out and it should be the Cadenza.

MDarringerMDarringer - 11/21/2018 10:56:22 AM

The Cadenza + Stinger volume gives Kia a reasonable profit return is why the Cadenza is still around. The Azera was a total failure so it got axed.

MDarringer, the Stinger is fine. But I agree they didn't need a redesigned K900. What they should had done instead of using the money to redesign a future fail K900 they should had used that money to redesign the Optima and Sportage they are over due for a redesign. Only thing they got right was the Telluride and next generation Soul. As for Hyundai they got the Sante Fe and that bigger SUV in time.

But Sonata and Optima should had been redesigned from the ground up 2 years ago.
