German Automakers Line Up To Meet With Trump Over Tariffs
The heads of Volkswagen Group, BMW and Daimler are ready to attend a meeting at the White House with the Trump administration, but have not yet received a formal invitation, industry sources said.

The Handelsblatt newspaper on Wednesday cited industry and diplomatic sources as saying the meeting could possibly take place as soon as next week. The paper said it was not known whether U.S. President Donald Trump would attend the meeting.

"It's clear that the meeting is planned, and that the CEOs will attend," said one industry source.

This won't end well for the Germans.

Sure it will

Trump only has a few months left - and he will need all the time he can get to write out the Pardons. Too bad he cannot escape NYState tax department.

Moron. Trump has 6 years left.

If Trump has 6 years left you better be prepared for German cars that are 40% more expensive than they are now. Including their EV's. Trump in his previous comments has stated a hatred for German cars. Doesn't look good.

He's after breaking Merkel and he'll succeed. Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and VW will simply build what sells in their "NAFTA" plants.

I for one could easily do without German cars.

There is no invite from the WH, but the meeting is planned? Odd that. Odder that they would meet the President. Car makers don't make trade policy last time I checked. Nor can they sign a trade deal. With the market turning towards SUV's the NAFTA plant strategy may cover a larger % of unit sales than we think. And I think the Germans are better prepared (plant wise) than the British or the Italians.
