German Version Of The 9th Circuit Court? VW Ordered To Refund ENTIRE Purchase Price Of A Six Year Old TDI Vehicle

The ghosts of the Dieselgate scandal are still haunting the VW Group and it looks like they won’t be going away anytime soon.

The latest news in the seemingly never-ending affair is a court ruling from Germany that could prove catastrophic for the automaker if other courts adopt it. According to the Augsburg civil court’s ruling, Volkswagen must reimburse the owner of a Golf the full price of the vehicle he bought in 2012.

Great news for consumers in Germany. Finally the largest case of Felony Fraud in human history is getting legal results. After years of VAG executives exploiting their customers and lying their way to enormous profits and huge bonus payouts sales are being refunded and senior execs behind bars. ...not to mention making the planet filthier based on lie after lie to the people coughing up $30k + for one of their garbage-spewing phony frauds.

VW got off easy in the USA. VW should have had to have repaid the price of the car or the price of the loan, whichever was higher.

Small sample, but three VW diesel owners I know did get back at or close to the purchase price of their VWs. 2016 Bug, and 2 2011 Jettas. None got another VW. The Bug owner now has a Volt.

No surprise, these types of scandals have long tails and go on for years.

Agreed.

Regardless of the legal decisions, I'm surprised consumers are willing to buy anything from this company ever again.

Especially since VW's reliability is still pretty terrible and that is well-documented IN ADDITION TO the fact the at company is unethical and that being well-documented too. Friends of my sister-in-law Maria joined us for Thanksgiving and they were planning to buy an Atlas yesterday. They had never owned a VW. I asked if they had ever looked at a Flex. They hadn't. They came to our Black Friday sale, test drive a Flex, loved it, bought it. They don't realize how much of a bullet they dodged.
