#LAAutoShow: STUD or DUD? What Do YOU Rate The BMW M340i Now That You Have The BEST Real-life Pics From Its Debut?
It wasn't too long ago that BMW dropped the curtains on its all-new 3-Series.

At first I was a bit disappointed. It looked more like an Infiniti Q50 or Lexus IS than a teutonic, German machine.

Before I passed the ultimate judgement on the latest Bimmer though, I decided to see what else the Bavarians had up their sleeve. As usual, they weren't over just yet.

That's because before the debut of the next-gen M3 and M4, the big dog for the interim will be the M340i. Boasting a six-cylinder powerplant and approaching 400 horsepower, it's going to be a lot of car to handle.

Ultimately though, one of every buyer's biggest factors for an automobile purchase is how it looks. Equipped with a more aggressive styling package, the all-new M340i may not be everyone's cup of tea. Having said that, we wanted to ask you, the Spies, what you think.

The all-new M340i. Is it a STUD or DUD?

Whenever I drive a BMW I get the feeling I am driving a well made machine rather than a luxury brand that goes fast. Style, colors and quality of materials add to the sense of occasion but its the feeling of man bonding with machine that carries the day for me. Early results from those who have driven this new version are extremely positive on the driving experience. Good to hear.

Overall - very nice, but the front end may have been a bit overdone.

Too much evolution not enough revolution. While it'll continue as the icon, I doubt it'll attract many new people. Yawn.....zzzzzzzzzzzzz

What's with the cheap looking plastic at the top of the grille behind the Mercedes bling dots? This car look ancient and this is just perfume on a turd.

The front end is simply fugly. The rest is OK. The regular version 3 looks pretty good. Neither will be in my garage.

IKR, they seem to let the designers spend a month on the front end inventing new holes, curves, angles etc... until they ran out of space to put them. They need to get back to the brute in a suit look, not the spike haired and/or flamboyant look.

Just not really feeling it. Nothing feels new or fresh. Maybe a bit of nice wood for the interior might make it stand out better, but we'll see.

Black is out and feels banal...
Grey, spectrum of, is the new black!

For Christ's sake, match the door handles to the side mirror and add some chrome in the back to create a cohesive design!

The new 3-Series...designed by KIA. Frankly, I would rather have the Stinger...at least the KIA community would respect you.

Nose is a mess of angles, holes and curves, pretty soon they will put a dozen little wings in there like the F1 cars, just because they can. Side profile is nice from what I can tell (there is no real good picture of the side profile), I like the lines over the rear fender. They should have followed the flush door handle trend, these look old already. Rear seems better than the front but again hard to tell from the pictures. They should loose the Lexus side of the bumper indents and hopefully they have gotten rid of the giant plastic piece that dominates the lower 1/2 of the number on a number of BMWs. Speedometer, odometer is goofy just for the sake of being goofy. Most of the interior is pretty nice, good to see they are sticking with buttons and knobs for some controls. Exterior B-, Interior B. Engine A+.

The kidney infill is a fine design for aerodynamics. To me the side mirror mount, where glass should be, looks economy.
