#LAAutoShow: Fill In The Blank — "The All-new Lexus ES F Sport's DESIGN Leaves Me Feeling ____________."

#LAAutoShow: Fill In The Blank —
Toyota's luxury division, Lexus, has really been putting its neck out on the line in recent years. While I can't say I've been impressed with every design — and I know I am not alone in saying that — I must say one thing certainly holds true.

Each and every design makes you feel something. And, to me, that's better than a design not saying anything at all. Props to Lexus for taking risks and not playing it safe.

Los Angeles Auto Show

You see this with the all-new Lexus ES. Years ago it looked vaguely like a bar of soap. It was boring, tired and most likely to be found in all the retirement home parking lots in Boca Raton.

Now though, that's all changed.

With the latest-gen ES, Lexus has dialed in the same chutzpah found in the all-new LS sedan. Before I put my thoughts down on paper, however, I wanted to see what YOU think of the all-new ES350 F Sport, Spies.

Let 'er rip!

It is a fine elegant design, though other than the F-sport badge I don't recognize much different, maybe a trunk spoiler.

I have always hated that F-Sport badge on the side...looks like its trying too hard to be "sporty".

I've always thought the ES was better by far than the GS for being a luxury car and Lexus is luxury no matter how much they want to pretend it's performance.

The IS and GS need to get axed in favor of a Lexus FS coupesedan EV.

Cars with exterior mirrors on the doors, Prius, 2006 Civic, but only the Kia Rondo would be the copycat since its Korean allowing the Nissan Leaf to get away with it.

I see Lexus copied the Nike Logo on their headlights. If Hyundai did it then it would be accused of copying. But since Lexus is Japanese they going to play dumb like it is original.

Grilles: Mazda, Audi, Mitsubishi. But only the Genesis would be accused of copying allowing Infinti to get away with it.

The front end is typical Lexus ugliness. The rest might as well be a Camry. Boring cars for boring people.

Makes me feel absolutely nothing. Seen a few on the road and they’re typical Toyota/Lexus: they’re just there. Not sure what is expected here. This ES is basically the same exact design that the Altima has been for years now with a Lexus front and rear end.

That diffuser on the rear bumper should send it back in time though.

Gee - a High performance Chevy Nova - with a cow catcher on the front. How many people drive on Railroad tracks instead of crossing them on the roads? I believe that is not legal.

I've seen it and driven the F-Sport. Refined and even a satisfying drive in sport+ mode.
The surface detail is well done and looks better in metallic colors.

Leaves me feeling "origami." Is there a cure?

I think Lexus nailed the ES line - especially the F Sport line. I've seen several on the road already, and it is truly a great design that does stand out for its simple elegance.

Appropriate design. Makes sense to me than those unnecessary creases in the new 3 series.

Good evolutionary design and will be among the few sedans to still sell.

2014 Mazda 6 and 2019 Lexus ES hint side profiles.

Is it still a Camry underneath this flashy exterior? If it is a generic run about then no need to impersonate a performance car.

The ES is on a new flexible platform that is shared with a number of Toyotas. Same with VW, Audi, Volvo, others.

Agreed... wonder if GM and Ford are cutting all their sedans? Seems they just cant build passenger cars well enough to compete, so the give up... surprise from Ford, typical of GM...

Wow I missed that, sure enough it does have tail lights... so cool everyone is catching on. Probably help with safety as well if you really think about it.
