#LAAutoShow: PALISADE. Rhymes With ESCALADE. Did Hyundai Copy GM's Baller Wagon Exterior Design A Little TOO Close?
When I first saw the Kia Telluride concept I remember one, liking it A LOT and thinking I wonder what the Hyundai version would look like. Hyundai never said they were doing one but we spies just KNOW sometimes how the car world thinks.

So when we got the inside scoop it was finally going to be shown in LA from one of our moles we were excited to see the outcome.

**READ the 2020 Hyundai Palisade's press release HERE!

Now don't get us wrong, ALL car companies do a little thing here and there that you can see came from the inspiration of a competitors product.

But when I first set eyes on the Palisade I was looking at it directly from the side angle and INSTANTLY, my first thought was HOLY CRAP, THE ESCALADE HAD A BABY! So I walked around it and looked from all angles and I kept seeing ESCALADE, ESCALADE, ESCALADE. Even the exterior color looked Cadillac.

Of course, the interior is totally different but on the outside...

And then I thought, even the name RHYMES with Escalade! Coincidence? Or no?

So let us know,  do you see what we see? ...hmmm, that line sounds like a Christmas song...And if you think it DOES copy from the Cadillac is that BAD, OK, GREAT IDEA or TOO FAR?

Agent 001 made sure to capture the 2020 Palisade, inside and out. Scope out the details, right here on AutoSpies.com!

Spies, discuss...

Fourth Palisade article in as many days. Why? Rhe consensus from the prior 3 articles is that this looks like a miss for Hyundai after their successful Tuscon design from a couple years ago

Nah...I wouldn't call it a "miss".

Really, the average consumer won't confuse the Palisade with any Escalade visually - even-though the model name is a bit grandiose. The overall design is fairly safe. I see a lot of old Veracruz's still grinding in daily traffic. There is a solid market for a Hyundai/Kia large SUV in their lineup.

The only thing the automaker did was benchmark characteristics from the successful SUV in today's market. Maybe that's why they introduced the large Hyundai before a Genesis version - to keep the "copying Escalade" rumors down. But the Palisade will need to be BoF to really copy the Esco.

No one should be copying anything at GM after this week's fiasco

Korea Inc. IS having problems selling cars in the USA - and if they continue to try to move Upmarket with their entry level class vehicles - they only make Genesis even less worthy.

It is a 2 box design. There is only so much you can do. Yes it is similar, but not as sharp edged as the new versions of GM's big SUV's.

Yes, they did copy the Escalade. Except no baller would be caught dead in a Hyundai.

I've "balled" in an Escalade. I'm sure the Mrs. would say yes to giving it a whirl in a Palisade.

Korean even copies the naming!

U G L Y... and if this is someone's idea of a Cadillac, well then they are blind.. the interior is cheap and all plastic... exterior has Ford Expedition Side styling, GMC headlights and Toyota rear end... W T F would be proud to drive this? the only statement it makes is you are lost, along with the style of this abomination.

My observation is typical customers are Korean and Hispanic. Other Asians typically drive Japanese or German.

Copy styling. Copy name. Copy size. Do the Koreans have the capacity for ANYTHING original?

I remember this was the mantra against the Japanese decades ago...worked for them... oh and the Chinese are coming...

Why? Because it has slanted C pillars?
So does the 2002 Lexus RX, 2004 Acura MDX, 1st Geenration Honda Passport, Ford Explorer, Toyota R Runner, 1st Generation Satuen Vue, That Saab SUV, Mercedes M, But only Sorento and Palisade would be copycats with slanted C Pillars.

Also add the 2005 Honda CRV also having Slanted C pillars. I also like the fact that we going to act like the Ford Fusion's face isnt Aston Martin and the Chrysler 300's face isnt a Rollsroyce.
2nd Generation Honda Pilot and Scion TC hint backend.

Also if anything the side profile is closer to the 2005 Kia Mesa's look. But no one is going to bring that up that thenFord Explorer ended up with Black A pillars 4 years after the 2005 Kia Mesa concept.

Now hurry up with my negative votes because people dont like truth that the Scion XB and 2009 Honda Pilot have the same backends.

MAZDA CX-5 And 2019 Acura RDX hint side profiles. If the Sportage looked liked that it would be accused of copying the side.

Does anyone on this site have a brain in the writng or reader department? This looks nothing like an Escalade. The name is not a copy, it's a theme in their naming... Outdoor-destination ... Santa Fe, Tuscon, Veracruz, Oallisade. Then you have when Jack wagon see the same stupid stuff. They have an original design but somehow you find a taillight that looks like no one else's and still claim it's a copy. While you give every other company a free pass. Jtz7 seems to be the only other person who has eyes and a brain. They're are card that have copied the Hyundai design but no one brings them up. They past body style scored had taillight like a Hyundai Genesis but and the Avalon rear end copied the Azera styling. But you only every see it one way. None of you have been in a Hyundai it Genesis lately and if so you're a brand snob
