Porsche Preps for Tesla Like Sales With Planned Production Increases For Taycan EV
Porsche’s first all-electric vehicle, the Taycan, is already proving to be in higher demand than the automaker anticipated.

The German automaker says that they are going to increase the planned production of the Taycan after seeing high demand – though it could be split between the 4-door sedan version and the Cross Turismo version.

Previously, Porsche was reportedly planning to produce about 20,000 Taycan vehicles per year.

Anybody know what the base price is going to be? Or the cost of one loaded up? The station wagon version won't be cheap either.

Price will be essential to good sales. This has to be priced like a Tesla S.

@MD- As an auto business insider, what are the chances of that happening?

Absolutely ZERO, but the Audi Etron is just a Porsche Taycan with altered styling, so if the Audi were $75-100K and the Porsche from $100-150K, VWAG would definitely outsell the Model S.

@MD As A8 clients are as hard to find as hen's teeth, although it stands the best chance of being priced near the Model S, I wonder if it will find buyers where the A8 can't. Porsche will price the Taycan very profitably and loaded up, it will be very pricey.

It will all depend on whether VWAG wants sales. If it's VWAG's usual BS of saying they want to compete and then arriving with an inappropriate price, then no. If they are serious the Etron and Taycan will need value pricing.

No way, no how will the Taycan ever sell in volume. The Tesla S will crush this thing.

The Tesla S is long in tooth.

After driving a Tesla S for a few years, people in this snack bracket are happy to move to a different cockpit for their electric car needs. Taycan is the best new brand backed by a solid interior.

Time will tell. The concept Taycan is super cool, low and wide. The production cars are not. They are much more upright, not as sleek front to back and won't have the same face/light treatment. It could be a big Meh when it arrives.

The Tesla S prototype was first shown in 2009. In car years, it is a dinosaur.

Buyers are going to want the best and hottest car out there, and the S won't fit that description.

Being the fastest with longest range, best consumer autonomous capabilities, and by far the biggest charging network doesn't fit that description?

Porsche, Audi prices will be on par with Tesla prices. My question is more about infrastructure requirements when all these EV's hit the market.
