Internal Documents Reveal Model Y Will Have 3 Row Seating
In an internal document released to Tesla employees a few weeks before the October earnings call, several details about the future Tesla Model Y electric crossover were reportedly revealed. While the document is now marked as outdated, it still gives us a pretty good picture of where the California based carmaker is heading with its new model.

Soon, other manufacturers will copy this innovation and offer three row vehicles. Mind blowing!

I wonder how if it is based on the 3. Unfortunately, that might mean using falcon wing doors.

@SJD - I thought the same thing. It is a compact CUV with the Model 3 chassis. No way it should have 3 rows. It is likely not a correct statement.

I'm thinking the Model Y won't be a simple 3/5ths size version of the Model X - exterior wise. The Y will could have exterior proportions like a slightly larger HHR. And be wider of course.

Or the Y could be similar in basic proportions to the X, with an extended body design. It's all about that side view now. Based on what they did with the X & 3, the proportions for the Y should be similarly acceptable.

3 row doesn't make sense for the size this is supposed to be. I hope that's inaccurate.

Do any of Tesla's products make sense? Nope

Tesla has some of the most pragmatic designs out there. Have you seen a Model S with the rear seats folded down? It's like a truck.

Actually - I would believe that this "info" is not about a Model 3 based crossover. I would suspect it is about a coming real SUV style crossover - and I would not hold my breath - as they have no production capacity for that right now.

Elon Musk already stated last year that Model Y production would be in a new dedicated factory. It will have to be soley for the upcoming SUV, as the Model Y is going to be gangbusters. The total number of Gigafactories will soon be 3, with 10-20 more worldwide.

The Model Y public reveal has been scheduled for March 2019 for awhile now, with production to start in 2020. We'll see if those dates hold as Model 3 production is getting very serious now and already the #6 best-selling car in the USA and #1 in total Revenue.. I think the Model Y will have no trouble becoming the #1 best selling car/SUV when released..

Where is the money coming from for this factory? Tesla has to come up with nearly $2 billion to pay debt coming due by March next year. Their total is nearly $11 billion.
Unsustainable.
