Volkswagen To Trim Lineup In Effort To Boost Profits
Volkswagen Group's core brand aims to raise its profit margin faster than previously planned despite rising investments for electric vehicles, the automaker said on Thursday.

The Volkswagen brand now aims to raise its profit margin to at least 6 percent in 2022, three years earlier than initially forecast. Most recently, the margin stood at 4 percent. VW had previously said it seeks to achieve an operating return on sales of at least 6 percent by 2025.

Just like FORD and GM, get rid of sedans and keep selling SUVs.

But the sedan market is still there. Smaller yes, but there. The US guys tuck their tail between their legs and quit, rather then deciding lets win our God given rightful large share of the market that's left by offering products that kill the competition. Where's the General Patton in the US auto world?

Except that VW's SUVs are absolute sales duds. VW would benefit from a "One VW" approach. China has several versions of the Jetta at last count.

So yes or no Arteon for the U. S.?

HELL NO

Who needs a $40-50K Passat?

A VW should NOT step on Audi's toes in size and price and the Arteon would do just that with the A4.

Now if the Arteon were the new Passat priced at a $25K base then yes.

The CC was a total flop for sales and the Farteon will be as bad for the bottom line.

The fact remains that it steps on the A4 in size and price. VW's sink like a stone for resale value and Audi isn't as bad. Thus, the Farteon will sell in the dozens per month.

@FAKKMD #Wrong The Farteon and A4 differ in wheelbase by one inch and overall the the difference is a couple of inches in length. They are for all intents and purposes the SAME size. Stop being a dumbass who doesn't know what he's talking about.

BUT even if the Farteon competed with the A6, THERE is the answer. That is even MORE of an unintelligent move on VW's part.

Dealers want a crossover between the Atlast and the Tiguanishia and one below the Tiguanishia.

American VW dealers have been polled as to whether they want the Arteon and the response was negative. They want crossovers and they want them YESTERDAY. The Arteon's debut was in fact delayed by the stunning lack of enthusiasm for the product. The dealers know it won't sell and they don't want to have to carry the dead weight of financing cars that don't sell.

#BS The dealers were VERY unhappy. The Farteon passed smog. The dealers don't want a $45K Passat.

Stand buy it all you want, BUT the dealer revolt was big so magically an emissions issue was concocted. I do have to laugh at the idiocy of you believing what VW says. That is priceless.
