Lotus May Be Plotting A 1000HP EV Hypercar - Who Should Worry?
Famous British sports car manufacturer and Formula 1 team Lotus is set to break new ground by entering the hypercar market in the next few years under its Chinese owner Geely. It could become the most expensive, fastest and rarest Lotus production car of all time.

Lotus EV should be fantastic. It will probably be well over $500k too.

They can do this car but they should also do a new Esprit. a 250-500 unit run of a hyper car is great, but it does not pay the bills like a regular model that sells a decent volume. The Dany Barr plan was solid. Too bad it never came to pass.

Lotus should worry. Going from Toyoda purchased 4 and 6 cylinders to 1,000hp is a big leap for typical Lotus customers to make. They have great engineering and can do it but they would be entering rarefied air with stiff competition from other brands that earned their place there over years. The new Lotus owners should first take care of their loyal base that has carried the company through lean times then work their way up the food chain step by step to hyper cars.
