HIT OR MISS? Rumor Has It Entry Level Pricing Of New Z4 Is A Lofty $64,695
The 2019 BMW Z4 is a nice car inside and out that drives well, and surely that sort of thing is worth quite a bit to some. But is it worth more than $5,000 more than a BMW M2? Because the Z4 is going to cost $64,695, if leaked documents on a Toyota Supra forum are to be believed.

The docs, posted on the Supra Mk V forums by user Bryster (via Carscoops), purport to detail the entire options list, along with the US-market 382-horsepower engine.

For a little context, $64,695 splits the difference between the Porsche Boxster (about $60,000) and the Porsche Boxster S (about $71,000).

Providing that the dealers aren't playing the markup game on the M2 you would be crazy to take this over an M2.

IKR, base 182hp model should be mid 30s or max upper 30s as a starting point, What the heck are they thinking?

That’s foolish, sales will be dismal and I t will just validate the nay sayers prediction that there is no market for cars and in particular sports cars. In reality it will validate that there is no market for over priced sports cars.

That's an expensive door-stop from the dealer's perspective.

I'd go with the Boxster S.

M2 is not a convertible. $65k is a very believable figure for a 6 cylinder luxury brand convertible. The SLC43 is slightly less but very dated. Boxsters are 4 cylinders now...

Boxsters are still 6 cyl ;), you must be thinking of 718's

Question in an auto manufacturers boardroom somewhere:

CFO: "Guy how do we sell more cars?"

Marketing: "We should make the cars too expensive to purchase and offer customers three year leases that force them to comeback to us after the lease is expired...."

NO surprise here.. BMW AG. thinks that a roundel will justify any price and well they are in for a surprise.. 64k, is just stupid and the design that was once interesting and new is now watered down and a mid-life update to most other manufacturers.. they predicted the "personal" 2 seat coup was a shrinking category, well they have priced this to ensure the prediction is right.. I bet it sells in small numbers, VERY small numbers... did I mention small numbers... must not need to sell cars anymore to make money for the company...

This is priced right above the 440i convertible and a good chunk below the M4 convertible. Seems to be the right pricing based on product placement.

I'll take a C7 for that price with a stonking V8 and plenty of options.

$34,695 should have been the target so that this would find many buyers and be a real image builder for the brand.

The real price bodes poorly for the Supra.

For $35-65K there are simply far better looking and better performing sports cars.

Name that $35k car?

That $50K model is still $15K too high.

To zlives: 718 Boxsters has been 4 cylinders since MY17.

So $50k for the 4 cylinder Z4 and $65k for the 6. I guess the Supra will be $55k but all will have options/packages to about $60k.

The only thing that could come to mind with BMW, maybe they figure that more if not most, of buyers will be leasing vehicle, and the resale is where they will make most of the money back...
