Trumped? China To Slash Tariffs On US Vehicles From 40% To 15% After Dismal November

We reported last week on Donald Trump's tweet that China would be slashing its tariffs on US-built vehicles, though at the time neither US nor Chinese officials would confirm it, so we remained somewhat dubious on the subject. It turns out the President was right, and China is reducing its tariffs from 40 percent to just 15 percent, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Chinese Vice Premier Liu He informed Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer of the decision to reduce the tariffs in a phone call on Monday night, WSJ said. This move shows a willingness to negotiate with the US and could spell a cessation to the expensive and problematic trade war between the world's two largest economies.

Now that they have built up their own auto industry they have less need for protection, so lowering the tariff is OK. Note that their tariff is still substantially higher than the original USA tariffs on imported cars.

Ok I do not like to talk about politics but when Trump won I thought ,, Woa , all americans are like that?.. with the time I have no idea if Trump is very smart but I think american people is good and smart people. I can say the same about chinese BUT..the goverment is other stuff, They are cummunists and I will do anything in my hands to make them fall down... chinese deserve liberty and sadly the only way to get that is to detroy their goverment and the only way that I see is the same formula used with Rusia.. Trade war and in that Trump or his advisors are totaly right. Yes in a trade war 300 millions of american will suffer but still will be able to afford a good life, in the other side 1300 millions of chinese will have a lot of problems and the military will have to rule them to keep the nation together, yes they have a lot of men but that wont be enough to keep 1300 millions of chinese alligned. So the country will break appart and the same that is happeneing with all those ex rusians states will hapen with them. Again nothing against Chinese but we cannot allow a comuinist power to rule the world so we have to stope them..the Trade war will do the trick without start a war... Hopefully.

In the end the Chinese people will overthrow their own government either by force or peaceful means. When exposed over time by travel, TV and the internet to personal freedoms in the rest of the world the masses will demand changes and fight back against suppression. You cannot contain and maintain a system that denies personal choice and freedom forever. People in poor countries live in fear while scrapping out an existence. People in rich countries seek freedom of thought, freedom of speech and freedom to choose.

The Chinese raised the tariffs in July from 15 to 40 in response to Trump's tariffs. Now they've lowered them again. We're right back where we started. MAGA!
