Electrical Problems Are Delaying Mid-Engined Corvette By At Least 6 Months

A couple of days ago, we learned directly from Chevrolet that the 2020 Corvette won’t debut at the Detroit Auto Show next month.

Not only that, the automaker said it would not host “a formal press event at NAIAS,” which is another way of saying that it won’t have any car debuts at the show. While Chevrolet hadn’t made any official announcement about a mid-engine Corvette Detroit world premiere in the first place, fans were obviously hoping for it.

Moving the engine to the middle should not have caused an issue with a mfg that has been making cars for 100+ years. This is a bit unbelievable. Like the bad welds on the new Jeep Wrangler. WTF.

Engineers are in great demand throughout the auto industry because of proliferation of model niches, electrification and better opportunities in other industries. The demand exceeds the supply. Its one of the reasons for industry wide delays and increasing recalls.

R8-style air intake has an arbitrary form that conflicts with shape of window. The rear end looks as mundane as Camaro.

Too conservative

Seems a little ominous. This far into the engineering process and just recently finding out the electrical system doesn't have capacity? Did someone hit the wrong button on the calculator in the planning stages?

How is it possible to design an electrical system that cannot handle the load? They must have added on and added on and added on.

I advised Chevy not to source electricals from Lucas.

If this was a Tesla, there would be no 6 month delay. Let the customer do the beta testing.... Wait, they already do.

Why is there a mid-engine Corvette in the first place?

After 3,000 are sold to fanboys/girls, the volume will go to Lexus LFA levels.

Is this Chevy's version of the Ford GT - where the only want to sell 1,500 unit total? I am puzzled as to where ANY sales volume is going to come from.
