Trump Calls Out GM Leadership Questioning Long Term Plan
President Donald Trump on Thursday said the decision of General Motors to shift much of its focus to electric vehicles will not succeed, and he asserted a new trade deal will make it harder for the company to move work to other countries.

Last year, GM said it planned to launch 20 new electric vehicles by 2023 as it faces rising regulatory requirements for zero-emission vehicles in China and elsewhere.

Sounds like Trump should stick to his specialties like Bankrupting casinos and running up massive $$$ Trillions budget deficits during economic uptrends rather than tell GM how to fall behind in EV development and production.

Next time Trump intends to use his government position to stick up for his $ personal benefactor buddies in the oil and coal industries maybe he shouldn't make it so obvious next time.

Trump is wrong about this, however I question GM's long term strategy as well. They have changed direction so many times on Cadillac and have turned it into a second tier luxury brand peddling gussied up Chevy crossovers.
The CT6 was potentially a great car, but they muffed it by launching with a 4 cylinder, bland interior and new nomenclature, whereas a V8 and a name from history would have made a more definitive statement.

"The worst political environment in history", are you kidding me? The Bush's, Clinton's and Obama's and all of the other legacy politicians have created that environment. Trump is the first president in many decades to come out and put the needs of the American people before the wants of the United Nations. And some how you want to blame the $21 Trillion debt that was incurred by the last 20 years along with the destabilization of our economic stability on Donald Trump. Get real and hold the people that did this to the nation accountable!

Look-Electric vehicles are the long term plan for planet earth like it or not. The combustion engine is going to go bust in 20 years. If you are an auto company that does business globally that is where you need to be thinking. Closing plants is a different story. However if the general public is not buying compact cars and sedans than proper planning is required. I think GM is still shedding it's old school auto culture even with Mary Barra at the helm. EV SUV's, Trucks, and CUV's is where the market is in the future. Robotic production is replacing labor intensive production. Trump does not understand this and also does not want to be caught in his 20 thousandth lie(or is that 20,001. Hard to say as the tally keeps rising faster than the national debt)

All of Trump's businesses other than the Trump Organization failed in one way or another -- including multiple bankruptcies. So what business would ignore his advice?
And if Trump really thinks building cars, which the market spurns more and more every day, is important, maybe he should tell his base to ditch their trucks and use their beautiful tax cuts to buy cars.
