GM Sends Layoff Notices To Fed - Promises Jobs At Other Plants For Affected Workers
General Motors Co  on Friday said it is beginning to send formal notices to U.S. government agencies of its plan to end production at auto plants and cut thousands of jobs as it shrinks passenger car production in North America.

The largest U.S. automaker said 2,800 hourly active U.S. workers at four American plants that will end production next year are eligible for new jobs at other plants.

If GM pays for all moving expenses and assists with living arrangements then it's a wash. If GM is willing to buy houses at pre-announcement market value and take the it on property devaluations, that would be most humane.

Well compared to 2009 this is certainly a better outcome for many GM employees. Obviously not a perfect solution but it could have been far worse. EV's are the future and GM is planning for it.
