Union Gives Big Talk, Claims It Will Make GM Regret Leaving Canada
t’s been roughly a month since General Motors announced it would be shuttering Oshawa Assembly, leaving the facility’s nearly 3,000 employees and Canada’s auto union more than a little annoyed. Unifor leadership has said it intends to meet with GM executives on December 20th and discuss the automaker’s plans for the Oshawa facility in Detroit.

However, the rhetoric coming from union head Jerry Dias makes the upcoming meeting sound more like a mafia hit than a labor negotiation. “GM is leaving Canada, and we’re not going to let them,” Dias told reporters. “We are going to waste General Motors over the next year. Waste them.”

Ontario and Canada wrote off more than $7 Billion in loans saving both GM and Chrysler or a cost of $475G per job saved. Good return on the investment. How much did Mexico kick in -oh wait they got the new factories instead while Canada and the US did all the heavy lifting...

Jerry Diaz is an absolute union goon asshole talking smack like he has any power to stop GM. Perhaps his time would be better served actually representing his extortion victims (members)rather that running around the country trying to be all political and threatening the Conservative Party for more media face time. Time to ban unions as they are nothing more than business cancer and serve no real purpose with today's modern H&S and labor laws.

"Ontario and Canada wrote off more than $7 Billion in loans..." What's the problem? The fascist-socialist left government of Canada loves handing out welfare.

Nope. Canada was dumb to gamble and it bit them. Canada should remember the phrase "America First".

This ship has sailed. No union or government concessions will save this plant or any other that is slated to close. They have asked and GM has answered. And the answer is no. the North American market has too much capacity. The reduction of it is what you are seeing here. The bailout is forgotten and GM is only thinking about the future and how they might play a role in the automobiles of tomorrow.

union serves no purpose other than to enrich itself. there's a reason why the entire american south booted them out and they can get no traction. employees are not partners they are employees. and nothing more to companies.
