Chevrolet To Debut Mid-Engined Corvette At Stand Alone Event This Summer

We recently discovered that the mid-engine C8 Chevrolet Corvette will not debut at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. Although that venue had been penciled in for the big unveiling, Chevrolet never made any official announcement. In hindsight, that was probably for the best.

GM Authority is now claiming that the car's debut will take place in the summer at its own standalone event.

So how about that faulty wiring? Gonna have it all perfect in 6 months?

I don't see how the wiring loom from the C7 could not work / be modified to work with this car. Q/A missing the boat somewhere.

The shift in engine location would render the C7 wiring harness pointless.

One auto journal thought the delay is really due to racing car homologation rules...a somewhat later introduction gave Chevy's racing team an advantage in some regard. Don't know if true or not.

If that were the case and everyone is thinking the delay is due to a major electrical issue, I think I'd get out in front of the rumor.

Stand alone event may get more press focus but can it really out due large crowds at car shows. I first saw the new C7 at the NY Auto Show and Chevy was taking orders right at the booth.

Not interested in this. Give me the "classic Corvette"

I highly recommend the Z06.

For Chevy's sake I hope it finds buyers. Maybe first time Corvette buyers 30-40 years old for whom the the brand and the heritage are not front and centre. They just want a sports car and any one will do. I still suspect the C7 will draw a good amount of sales from those who want a "real" Corvette.

Turning Corvette into a "Porsche" brand would be such a brilliant move.

@MD- That is still a solid idea. The C8 can be the odd ball Carrera GT of the brand. An super sports SUV and a sedan that looked like the new Audi GT BEV would easily sell with the base and supercharged Corvette motor. Chevy would laugh all the way to the bank. I would have done the SUV, little SUV and sedan before the C8.

My guess is Aug 18th at PBC.

Looks like a knockoff Ferrari, it's only a matter of time before one of its redneck owners slap a Ferrari badge on the hood he purchased from Ebay for $3.99.
