2007 BMW M5 FINALLY Gets Manual Transmission

Okay for those of you hated the seven-speed sequential manual gearbox with paddle shifters on the steering wheel (we don’t know why you’d hate it, but we understand the need for the manual feeling), your prayers have been answered. The new 2007 BMW M5 will finally come with a manual transmission. The car will have a V10 500 horsepower engine and will get you to 0-60 mph in the same 4.1 seconds as the 2006 model. There is no cost for the manual transmission on the 2007 BMW M5 and we expect the prices to hang around the same $82,000.

I hope u Audi and Merc. boys know now that this car will never again lose to any car in a comparison. I thought the 0-60 would be slower than the SMG. I'm glad. i'll definately buy one now.

There was ALWAYS a need for the manual. The SMG, while providing lightning fast shifts, was way too jerky and uncivilized for daily use.

The manual will get rid of the herky jerky attitude that plagued the SMGed M5. In fact, due to the SMG transmission the M5 lost to the E63 AMD and Audi S6.

BMW guy told me that BMW will develop their own version of DSG when we were testing the new 3 series. He said that unfortunatelly SMG is not good enough to be compared to rivals' transmissions .... a BMW guy saying that is a big deal btw

Just in time... the RS6 will come out soon. They need to brace themselves. It's going to rock their world- just as the RS4 did, but sooner.

Does the manual make the new M5 special? Not really. The M5 has always been the car for the enthusiast.

Audi and MB are not really aiming for this segment. Audi creates high-performance AWD cars aimed at the guy who likes to have a sporty ride coupled to practicality. Same thing with Mercedes AMG's.

It should certainly be interesting to see what Audi spins up for the RS6. Rumors are stating anywhere from 520-550 horsepower.

Most are aiming towards the 530+ range.

It should be a twin-turbo V10.

I think in acceleration Audi will win, as the previous RS6 was able to achieve consistent 0-60 times of 4.3-4.5 seconds with only 450 horsepower.

I've seen one magazine even say 600hp!

THAT would be a moster.

But even with "only" 550hp, 600 would be very easily attainable. Chip it!

there is nothing like shifting down turn and blast off, you forget that it's a sedan I have given the 550 Marenallo a strong run for the money with the SMG V-10,
