US To Get Limited Run Of High Performance Subaru WRX STI 209 Sedans

After watching all 450 examples of the Subaru WRX STI 208 sell off to the lucky enthusiasts of Japan, America will finally get its own limited production version, creatively named the WRX STI S209.

Subaru has dropped a teaser video of the special S209 ahead of an expected full reveal at the Detroit Auto Show next month, following AutoGuide reporting that such a car was indeed coming stateside just a few days ago.

Too little too late...current STis are long in tooth and fallen far behind the competition, especially the Type R which isn't even 4wd. Best STi for rawness and great feel was the first one.

There is a cognitive disconnect between the WRX and the rest of Subaru's lineup.

Subi should just make an Outback wagon STI, put a fancy interior in it, a six-speed, and put it up against M5 and AMG for 1/3 of the the price. That would be cool!

The M and the AMG? The hottest current WXR STI type RA, is 50k so a bit less than half than the cars mention and it's 0-60 is over twice that of the M5 (M5 0-60 2.8 RA 0-60 5.7 according to Car and Driver) That is a huge over reach.
