Chevrolet Developing Compact Unibody Pickup

Chevrolet Developing Compact Unibody Pickup
Enter the Chevrolet Montana, or more to the point, the successor of the Montana. The second generation is in production in São José dos Campos, Brazil since 2011, and considering the underpinnings, it’s high time for General Motors to replace the coupe utility with something more modern.

Citing sources familiar with the project, GM Authority learned that GM “is working on a new, compact Chevrolet unibody pickup.” Volkswagen confirmed that it’s developing something similar in the guise of the Tanoak, which will be underpinned by the MQB platform used in the Golf and Atlas.

So GM is developing its car-based pickup off a horrid Third World platform while Ford is developing a Ranchero off the Focus platform. Hmmmmm

Far better than what this is based on. This Third World GM platform is horribly outdated where as the Focus is up to date. That is a MASSIVE difference.

And original article states it’s not coming to US?! Why not???

I know a little fwd car pickup is not for everyone but I think there is still a very good size audience for it.

It's not coming because the architecture being used would not pass crash standards for one. For two it is an ancient architecture that has been tinkered and reissued again and again so it would be a class trailing design. Brazil has some pretty crappy cars. VW got their butts handed to them when they tried to slide the Fox in under the Rabbit that was the beginning of their callous attitude toward the American market. Thankfully GM isn't THAT bad.

Surprised GM didn't show a couple of cool concepts, then wait till the Koreans and Japanese entries dominated the segment. Then GM would put out a completely 1/2 @$$ed entry... have it fail then kill it...

There is a big wide world out there and you would know it if you weren't mooching off your parent's hard work and living in their pool house.
