AWESOME or AWFUL? Pick-up Truck Owners Are ICE'ing Tesla Drivers At Their Designated Superchargers

Tesla drivers are reporting a spate of "ICE-ing" (an acronym from Internal Combustion Engine) by large trucks at Superchargers across the country.

In one instance, Reddit user Leicina said a group of trucks blocked all of the charging spots while changing "F Tesla" before being asked to leave by an employee of the store.

Like most superchargers, the location where the incident occurred — behind a Sheetz convenience store in Hickory, North Carolina, about 40 miles northwest of Charlotte — isn't on land owned by Tesla. Rather, it's leased from third-parties, giving the company no control over how the Supercharger spots are used from day to day...

I find it utterly hilarious. I can hear the snowflakes losing their minds. I'd tow the trucks, but the sense of entitlement of Tesla owners is off the charts.

So, wait. I don't understand how it's a sense of entitlement. If a Tesla intentionally blocked your gas pump and you needed gas, is that about entitlement?

I don't know, it seems like a super dick move to me. Why act like that? You can blab on all you want about "have a sense of humor", "PC culture", "grow up and be a man", etc., but at the end of the day, you're just being an asshole for no reason, and those are all just ways for people to justify dumping on the concept of human empathy.

And I promise you, all the people who decry "snowflakes" all day long, they would pitch the biggest hissy fit if the conditions were reversed. Look how easy it is to get them to lose their minds at people saying "Happy Holidays".

@cidflekken Have you not seen tesla drivers doing the exact same thing i.e. parking but not charging. I have. Tesla owners think they are rarified people because they drive a Tesla. So knock off the disingenuous BS.

This is bad but you have to admit Tesla drvers’ entitlement is such that they don't even use blinkers to turn.

Now a days people park where people want to park no matter...in front of charging stations, driveways, crosswalks, handicap spots, fire hydrants, wherever. The excuse is always the same "I was just going inside (bank, convenience store, etc) for a minute." Don't take it personal Tesla owners, its the world we live in.

Handicap parking spot abuse is off the chart. You would think everyone was raised in a barn. I don't get it.

Could not agree more. My wife is now handicapped (botched medical procedure) and cannot believe how prevalent this abuse occurs...have seen teenagers eating hamburgers in spots, low sports cars with outdated stickers on mirrors, people parking to use ATM machine, etc etc. This past summer saw a young lady park in spot near our business to run (and I do mean run) into the bank so I opened her passenger door. When she got in her SUV she had to run around to close it. I opened it again. She ran around again and called me a "Dick" to which I responded "Now cunt you know how it feels when a handicap person has no where to park because you took their space" and when she got behind the wheel I opened the passenger door one last time. I'll likely get shot one day but it really pisses me off!

There will always be dumb ass rednecks who are insecure and afraid of anything different than what they are used to. These morons are normally all about "'murica" so they should be all about Tesla, which is the first American car company in a long time that is successful in taking a significant amount of sales from imports.

As far as I know, most of those Tesla superchargers are generally on publicly-available parking areas. I don't think Tesla owns the real estate underneath.

As far as I know, unlike 'handicapped' parking spots (which are VERY necessary and are legally-protected) I do not think that there are public - state and local- statutes designating the supercharger spots for Tesla's only - though anyone with half-a-brain who did not own a Tesla which needed a charge would likely have the good sense not to park there.

Perhaps there should be a law stating that if a Tesla supercharger is in a 'public' parking area (most superchargers in the NY area happen to be on private property such as in strip malls) that services shops and the like, I guess its up to those landlords to enforce whatever rights Tesla has or doesn't have related to the Superchargers.

I find this whole thing funny and I suspect the monster truck owners are sitting nearby in a bar watching the fun and 'outrage' (!!!!) unfold.

Not really a bigoted comment...just a commentary on the special kind of moron who purposefully parks their vehicle so others can't refuel theirs. These spots aren't ever right in front of an establishment like handicapped spots...so no one would park in the supercharger spots so they can run in real quick.

Im not "value judging" that anyone who behaves like a normal member of society is lesser than me. I would have a similar reaction to a group of people who decided to park their Teslas in front of all the pumps at a gas station so others couldn't gas.

I'm going to start taking pictures of Teslas parked next to gas pump while the owner is shopping at the Minimart.
Plenty of designated space for parking but these dicks have to block the pumps.
Seen 3 of them just in last month.

Explanation for those with a brain cell deficiency: I'm referring to the redneck truck drivers who hate EVs so much, they set out to harm EV owners by depriving them of the ability to refuel. No surprises here. This sounds typical of the "rolling coal" crowd who'd fly a confederate flag and wear a MAGA hat.

"Redneck" is a negative value judgment against people that you perceive to be lesser than you which makes you a bigot. Your post above is dripping in hatred. Yet, you probably think you're a loving, highly evolved person, well, you aren't. You decry hateful people be being a hateful person, so in addition to being a bigot, you're a hypocrite.

If you look closely at the photo it could be just be fake. The Tesla at the left is using a charging station that is placed on the side just out of the shot. Some stations do this, other have units parked at the head of the parking spot. As you can see from the photo No other charging stations are visible in the shot. These units are fairly tall in other photos. And the 2nd Tesla sign is much lower than the first one for some odd reason with an additional blue sign on the same post. They are all uniform in other shots of charging stations with no other signage attached.
