If YOU Could Name A Car + Truck Of The Year For 2018, WHICH TWO Vehicles Would Get YOUR Nod?
The end of the year is always a great time to reflect on successes and failures. Whether it's related to business or your personal life, now is the time to reset goals.

Not in that cliché way either. You know, saying you're going to make a change before the ball drops and then you live up to it for only two weeks. We're not aiming for that.

Obviously as we skew towards autos, we're interested in reflecting upon the year's best and worst vehicles. While other publications have printed their lists, before we distribute ours we'd like to hear from you, Spies.

We know that you all have discerning taste and many of you get a lot of wheel time in varied products. So, let's hear what you've got.

If YOU could name a car and truck of the year for 2018, WHICH two products would get your nod of approval?

Let 'er rip!

Truck: Ram / It is a very successful reinvention after the previous look getting so played out to the point of caricature.

Car - Genesis G70 (maybe should be for 2019). A compelling sports sedan. Now the brand has to do its oart.
Truck - Ram. They have upped their game considerably in this important segment.

If the Stinger is any indication of the platform, this will be a wonderful car.

On the Fury...440 Magnum, 426 Hemi, or 413 Max Wedge?

Go Hemi.
I should have named the Stinger as the car.

Have you ever driven a 413 Max Wedge or a 440 Magnum? The choice isn't that easy. The 440 is the velvety one, but in a Jensen Interceptor it's amazeballz.

MD: What is a 413 Max Wedge?

There were two Hemis. There was a Hemi in the late 1950s that was expensive to make due to the hemispherical heads. Chrysler engineers came up with a wedge-shaped combustion chamber to produce the same power. The power race in the 1960s brought the Hemi back because it was much more tunable than the Max Wedge. The Hemi and the Max Wedge tend to have uneven idles because they were optimized for the drag strip and much less so for daily driving. Enter the 440 Magnum which has the power of a 426 Hemi but it is much much more tractable.

Jensen liked the 383 for the Interceptor, but dabbled with the 440 Magnum.

The Hemi Charger has the name, but you'll prefer the Charger with the 440 for example.

I have a 413 Max Wedge Polara wagon--all numbers matching with less than 100K miles all documented--that is a total sleeper. I improved the brakes, stiffened the suspension, lowered it slightly, but wow is is fun to go hunting Mustangs and Camaros with a Plain Jane looking wagon.

Car: Honda Accord - a car hitting way above its weight class.

SUV: Grand Cherokee Trackhawk - that a company was able to engineer this with so much power, with its ride height and weight, but unflappably control and stability is astonishing

MD: I "googled" 413 Max Wedge ... Does your's have two big air cleaners under the hood? How much horsepower? I never knew about the 413 !!!

Supposedly 365 but who knows. The 413 is a monster to look at.

The carb set up looks like the octopus/squid monster that lives inside a Dalek metal body on Dr. Who. I made a few changes to the rear suspension because the torque could really wind it up.
