DRIVEN + VIDEO: Does The All-new Honda Insight Have The JUICE To Take On The Toyota Prius? Consumer Reports Weighs In...
With the battle of the hybrids getting more ferocious, we're seeing a lot of interesting vehicles come to the market. You may not love them; however, when getting the best MPG as possible is your primary goal there's only so many choices.

If you're not going to snap up a fully electric vehicle in form of the likes of the Tesla Model 3, Chevrolet Bolt or Nissan Leaf, then you're likely to choose between these two: The all-new Honda Insight and Toyota Prius.

Ever since the first-generation Insight though it's always been a compromised nameplate. Honda never did this car right, really.

This time around, however, it seems like Honda came to the fight with its "A" game. So, what did the folks at Consumer Reports think? Well, see for yourself, below.

Honda's hybrid sedan boasts the highest fuel economy in its class. The Insight offers a comfortable ride and responsive handling, but the noisy engine and frustrating gear selector may push buyers towards more refined competitors.

It's just a Civic Hybrid with a new name. Too bad the Civic cannot inherit the clean looks.

Noisy engine and cumbersome gear selector? Please. That engine sounds great not like a tomb. And the gear selector is hardly cumbersome and requires additional attention especially after getting used to it.

Why should someone have to get used to the gear selector? Stick...P...R...N...D...L

A case of don't fix what isn't broken.
The standard shifter does not require you to look down to find the right button to push. I found in a Ford week long rental that the dial selector could be problematic in getting the desired position 100% of the time. As an owner in time likely would get used to it, and a push button selector may be more full proof. But why change up something fairly standard across all makes.

Good looking car. Way nicer looking then a Civic. Maybe when the Civic has an exterior refresh.
