Fiat Abandons Base 124 Spider In UK Market - Where Next?

Fiat Abandons Base 124 Spider In UK Market - Where Next?

Fiat has removed the 124 Spider roadster from sale in the UK after just over two years on the market.

The model, which shares a platform with the Mazda MX-5, was taken off the company's model line-up on its website last week. However the Abarth version, in Spider and hard-top GT form, remains on sale.

Autocar is awaiting comment from a Fiat UK spokesperson, but the car's removal from sale could potentially be due to WLTP emissions regulations. The car's 1.4-litre 'Multiair' turbocharged petrol engine is an older unit that's been in use by various Fiat-Chrysler brands for some years now, and it may not have been cost-effective to upgrade it for the introduction of more stringent emissions tests late last year.

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey
We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home
And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hide it in the hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret just the Robinson's affair
Most of all you've got to hide it from the kids
Koo-koo-ka-choo, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey hey, hey, hey
Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates' debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Every way you look at this you lose
Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Wu wu wu
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Jolting Joe has left and gone away
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey

While I get your point, it was an Alfa Romeo Duetto that Dustin Hoffman drove in the movie not a Fiat.

Further the 1.4 multicar turbo engine that is built in America is a decent engine. I've owned 2 Fiat 500 Abarth's. The engines have never given me any issues what's so ever.
