#NAIAS: MORE Toyota Supra LEAKS! MORE Pics And RUMORED Pricing...
At the rate we're going at, Spies, there's not going be much of a reveal of the all-new Toyota Supra. That's because more information seems to be making its way online by the day.

Some of it was accidental leaks by corporate, others are acquired via mysterious means and lastly there's some speculation. Perhaps the 2019 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) will be interesting this year!?

Having said that, we've got two all-new things to share.

First off, there's two all-new images of the fifth-generation Supra. To me, they appear to be part of marketing materials and very clean. Given that everything appears to line up with the leaked images and video so far, these are the real deal.

Second, rumored pricing has leaked online. Said to be from a "credible source," this is the information that was provided:

Base 3.0 six cylinder: $49,990
Premium 3.0 six cylinder: $53,990
Launch edition 3.0 six cylinder: $55,250

So, how's the all-new Supra shaping up in YOUR eyes, Spies?

Ask @MD how much you should pay before you buy one. They may end up with cash on the hood for those smart enough to ask for it. The Bupra will not impress the faithful. Or anyone else for that matter.

$50K is $15K too much given that a Mustang GT will obliterate it on every performance parameter.

Some interesting details, but overall design feels heavy-handed and doesn't have the elegance of LC coupe.

Looks better than Z4 coupe, but not as nice as 718, or even Supra IV, mainly, IMO, because of the roof silhouette.

In 1993 a Supra Turbo cost $39,900 which based on inflation would be approximately $68,000 today. The more relevant question of course is what else could you buy today at today's asking price?

The 1993 Supra Turbo was 95% of a 1993 supercar and was worth $68,000 in today's dollars.

The 2018 Bupra is just another compromised two-seater that is not handsome.

And that 1993 Supra did not sell at all because it was stupidly overpriced and there simply were other cars that matched it for performance at a much lower price.

If you buy a stripped out Mustang GT with PP1 you are still in the low 40K range. In terms of performance manual transmission to Supra dual clutch transmission straight line performance should be pretty similar. Remember the 10 speed auto GT is the one that will crack 4 seconds 0-60. The manual with most publications takes around 4.4 seconds. In terms of handling again its a hard call as there really has not been any standard road test of the Z4. One Euro publication put it pretty close to a base Boxster with better power and torque. Going out on a limb with the assumption that the Supra is lighter and has more aggressive handling I think the Supra might make similar cornering power to the Camaro but have a bit more agility. Therefore I think it might pip a Mustang with a PP1 package. The PP2 package on the Mustang however is quite impressive as is the Camaro performance package. The Supra will ride better and probably has much better quality than either the Camaro or Mustang and you figure its about 5K more than either with their performance handling packages.Of course if you go to the Mustang premium or Bullit models than the price is on parity with the Supra. Now compared to a 718 it looks to be very competitive. Further you can get a six cylinder that sounds worlds better than a 718. A recent comparison in Car magazine put the new Z4 up against a base Cayman. The Z4 was rated overall at parity in terms of handling and performance to the Cayman with a much nicer sounding engine. A Supra is going to run 10 grand less than a 718 unless Porsche price the Cayman/Boxster T a lot more aggressively. It will be interesting to see the final numbers as well as power to weight ratio of the Supra. Also remember if the Supra gets 382 HP in US spec trim that's right on top of a base Porsche Carrera's HP numbers for 50% less price.

I don't care that much about performance when it's an ugly duckling. It's DOA for me.
