#NAIAS: A VERY Real Side Of Detroit, The Grand Tour's Jeremy Clarkson Recounts Getting Held Up At Gun Point
When it comes to dangerous cities, Detroit is right up there with the best of them. If you're not particularly careful, you can wind up in a heap of trouble, fast.

And that's just what happened to The Grand Tour's Jeremy Clarkson back in 1997.

20 plus years ago, he ventured to an abandoned train station while doing some filming. Although the authorities had warned Clarkson and company about gang factions who were currently having turf wars in the station, they entered any way.

The rest is history.

Although the specific train station is not named, we're wagering it was the famous Michigan Central Station. You know, the same massive rail station that Ford purchased and is in the process of turning into an innovation campus.

...He said: “Somebody held a gun against my head in Detroit. It’s a long, complicated story but we were trying to do some filming and some people thought we were trespassing on their turf.

“It was pretty nasty. And this time, 100 yards from where that happened, I was having dumplings in a goose broth..."

Granted Detroit is a depressed town with some dangerous neighborhoods, but this experience could be repeated in an major city in the world if you are told not to venture into sections and ignore the advice.

I don’t know I’d like the odds of being held up at gun point rather than being caught up in a mass shooting usually carried out by some depressed or insecure white male in a rural city/area near you. Lol Clarkson is still alive to tell the story while all the infants, women, children, an innocent men attending concerts, work, school, or church aren’t...

Plus as much as I love Clarkson’s automotive journalism, he isn’t exactly the most innocent human being himself punching producers, racial/sexist jokes.

I like to believe that was Detroit’s unique way of saying Welcome Clarkson! Don’t F***. With us and you’ll be alright LOL

Why is it the most dangerous cities are the ones run by Democrats?

Because Democrats believe that laws for violent crime are bad and that violent criminals should be understood not punished while at the same time wanting to punish free speech and the right to bear arms because they choose not to understand.

Detroit is 100% about Democrats keeping poor black folks down on the farm and enslaved with welfare.

Plus Democrat bigwigs who are against walls and guns live in gated communities and have personal bodyguards. Do as I say not as I do.

Considering just how large Clarkson is, I don't think he would be my first target if I was going to mug someone. You might need a lot of bullets to stop a guy that big if you piss him off.

I just checked out Cauley Ferrari in Detroit. A pretty big and snazzy setup for a city that we are made to think is on the ropes.

Detroit has rich people then a a big gulf in the middle and a massive amount of poor people. This is how the Liberals like it. The poor people are enslaved on welfare. Then they are made to believe that they must vote the Liberal line or Auntie Waters, Auntie Pelosi, and Uncle Schumer will take the gravy train away. When the "ethnics" commit violent crime, the Liberal White Guilt prevents a tough-on-crime stance, so they get the clusterduck that Detroit is.

@MD Correct on the monied set. I just thought the dealership would be closer to Gross Pointe. It is way west on the other side of town.

Not to get political but frankly Chicago is a place that neither Democrat or a Republican city administration could easily get a handle on. As for Clarkson he clearly ignored warnings and deliberately put himself in harms way. They did a previous show buying cheapo cars in Florida and deliberately driving through the Red Neck portions of 3 or 4 southern states with slogans on their cars deliberately taunting people. Common sense dictates you just don't do stupid things like this. In Clarkson's case TV ratings usurped common sense.

When you say "Not to get political but...", you're actually saying "I'ma gonna get political and then play the victim if anyone challenges me."

Just own it.

In Canada at the municipal level (cities and towns) there are no political parties, just people and their personalities and platforms. It is up to you to find out where they stand on the issues that matter to you as a voter there is no provincial or national party backing them or associated with them. As well our police are the police. We don't elect the chief of police nor do judges at the local, provincial or federal level get elected.

Oh contraire mon frere! Toronto city hall is full of NDPers and Libtard elitists assholes extreme. Whilst they don't actually fly the political freak flag you can clearly tell what side of the union picket line they are on by policies or the endless moronic jiberish that eschews form their mouths and it has been like this as long as I have voted...

Detroit is a shithole but does have nicer burbs (Gross Pointe, Sterling Heights, Novi, Ypsilanti) and there is a lots of money in Michigan but it's lower key and conservative -probably so they don't get jacked and whacked by the D'town thuggery...

"Whilst" is an archaic word that pedants use to evoke dramatic flair of an old queen.

@QEW - That Ferrari dealership is the biggest I have ever seen! If wealth is kept off the radar, who is buying the cars?

My family is British so we all have bad teeth, play darts, binge drink and use that word a lot especially when addressing the Queen of Canada :-)

Pro athletes and speculators. The closest Ferrari stealership would be Chicago so there is quite a large population base to pull buyers from OH, IN, MI and Western PA. The largest has to be Sheldon in Ft Liquerdale or at least it was when I lived down there but times do change.

@QEW just judging by the satellite shot, the operation at Cauley is much bigger than Sheldon. The Detroit building they have goes waaay back. They must have a big sales and service operation. I was watching a F612 engine service on YouTube the other day. Rad drained and out, 2-3 pulleys to be replaced due to dead bearings, water pump and air intake hose. Be careful what you wish for....
