#NAIAS: The LEAKS Keep On Coming! The 2020 Volkswagen Passat Gets EXPOSED...
As we edge closer until January 14 and the start of the 2019 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), more vehicles are getting revealed before their debut. Let's add another one to the list, folks.
The latest to make the cut is the 2020 Volkswagen Passat.

Leaked by Carscoops via Wheelsage, the "all-new" Passat looks anything but. Observing it from both the outside and inside, it appears to be just a heavy handed refresh of the current-gen product.
Tomorrow we'll get the full download of information and what's actually going on. We suspect there will be updated powertrains that provide more oomph and greater fuel efficiency. In addition, we wouldn't be surprised if an all-electric variant also comes along since we're pretty sure there won't be a diesel alternative.
Until then, check it out via the leaked images below.

#Terrible is the only word that comes to mind. Volkswagen obviously saw a dwindling sedan market and decided not to invest big in it, but the irony is that if you want a piece of the sedan market, you have to invest big because the CamCords simply have NOT given up. This is hopelessly bad and rather crass. This is another example of VW's scorn for the American market. The Passat will be dead in two years.

That steering wheel seem to be placed really far to the right.

Look the sedan market is slowly dying. Every car maker knows it including Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia etc. Ford, GM, and Chrysler have simply bailed out early. The Japanese and the Koreans have been the most successful in this market. Therefore they may be able to hold on a bit longer in the sedan market. However in 5 years perhaps even their sales are going to decline to the point where they end sedan production. Keeping the same platform is not necessarily a bad thing either. Look at Chrysler and the mileage the've gotten out of the old mid 90's Mercedes platform with the current RWD 300, Charger, and Challenger. Those vehicles are still selling. Who knows maybe FCA will convert them to EV's in the future. The old Passat platform was not bad in terms of ride and handling. The new Passat looks fresher than it did and it will certainly age better than a Camry in design. Finally you have to keep the price down in the low to mid 20's. You now have a turbo Mazda 6 that's pushing 40 grand. For the money and with the restyling this new old Passat is still a buy.

this is simply all the larger automakers adjusting their R&D and production to meet consumer demand. why would GM Ford VW etc continue to offer products consumers are not buying?!
AND change in the auto industry literally takes years. Their most vocal critics tend to think adjustments can be made in months.
