#NAIAS: We DETAIL The All-new 2020 Cadillac XT6 INSIDE And Out With These REAL-LIFE Pics — So, What Do YOU Think?
For the 2019 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), General Motors' luxury division, Cadillac, rolled out an all-new sport-utility vehicle. This is important for two reasons.

First, Cadillac has done pretty well with its SUVs from a sales perspective. If the automaker can continue to bottle up that lightning that has moved units, well, that'd only be a good thing considering its other vehicles are soon to go the way of the dodo bird. Second, consumer expectations have changed: They want SUVs.

Given that most automakers in the luxury sphere have been producing some competitive SUVs, the space is packed with great offerings. Cadillac only can deliver fire, otherwise, it's going to be a bit difficult for the marque.

We're sure GM will offer some crazy incentives but, ideally, any business would like to NOT go that direction to achieve sales.

We've made sure to shoot the all-new XT6 inside and out. We didn't leave any bases uncovered. Having said that, we want to hear it straight from you: What do YOU think of the all-new XT6? Is it the heat Cadillac needs or is it a lackluster offering in a crowded space?

The dashboard is HORRIBLE. The plastic buttons also look cheap and brittle. I hate the dash.

Does the interior feel as low-rent as it looks?

I'm talking stiff cheap leather, buttons that jiggle in their sockets, hard scratchy plastics on the lower parts of the door and center console.

I wasn't there in person today but from the looks of it, it's not good.

Man, Cadillac is so f---ked.

The new President did an interview with another auto website recently. It smacked of GM-insider business-as-usual wishy-washy good-enough garbage, with vague mentions of the "brand" and question dodging and making excuses.

Nothing about a firm direction for Cadillac, nothing about understanding how and why and in what areas it lags its competition, let alone how to close the gap, nothing about innovative or inspiring future product. At least Johann knew Cadillac had problems and was trying to fix them, albeit at his own pace. This guy reeks of "I dunno, this leather feels good enough to me!"

That's why I think the XT6 was the result of Johann losing his battle with GM corporate and getting fired for it. It's a slapdash cost-cutting job to quickly fill a market segment. If Johann's words are to be believed, this product would have been delayed until it was right; whereas Steve Carlisle was only too happy to obey the GM board's directive of "get it to market and do it now, as long as the tires don't fall off, we'll call it acceptable".

We'll never know for sure, but I'll stake money on that claim.

From a couple of folks who have been in the car, yes, it feels as cheap as it looks

What is with the blunt noses? If this is to meet pedestrian safety standards, they need to please relax those a bit. I don't think Cadillac was thinking right when it put it's show car out there with black leather. For shows the need something brighter that photographs well, saddle, light gray etc... not black.

It looks like a Honda Pilot

Look at the body panel gaps. Some are so wide while others are very narrow. A Mazda Ascent has narrower and more uniform panel gaps for less than 1/2 the money.

The dash (especially the radio and HVAC controls) use the low rent hard plastic shiny fingerprint prone buttons from the rest of the Cadillac line.

When I sat in an Escalade, I felt like it was a joke of a vehicle considering the asking price. This looks similar.

It smacks of parts bin special.

Aviator is much nicer but I bet fully loaded it will be a lot more expensive.

Introducing the 2020 Hondillac XT6ilot.
The Passport, The Pilot and the XT6ilot.
The front end is just a cloned Blazer with a boring grille. Telluride over this.

It does look like a Honda Pilot. The seem where the lower part of the dash meets the center console looks bad.

I know looks are subjective. The exterior looks okay (not a fan of the front and tail lights) but the interior is a deal killer if I were buying a vehicle.

This vehicle is eblematic of what is wrong with GM. It is pretty obvious some marketing person decided Cadillac needed a three row crossover and then the bean counters decided to rehash a GMC Acadia and throw in some Cadillac interior bits. They didn’t eben bother with a retuned powertrain or with adding the super cruise system. It fathoms me that they would release anything so poor after Lincoln fired a shot across their bow with Navigator 3 years ago. Hopefully this release is not reflective of the full size suvs that are coming later this year.

I don't understand who signs off on this crap.

Forget costs or cheapness that have been mentioned as the culprit -- that is NOT the problem with the interior of this car. The interior reflects bad choices, bad taste, and an overall failed design process at GM. I am positive that for the exact same cost, a beautiful interior could have been achieved. That's what is so sad--
I am sure this interior wasn't cheap for them. You can see there is tons of leather, metal, and upscale carbon-fiber-look trim. It's just that it's all in the wrong place and the overall design is crude and poor. The leather surfacing along the center console, including the sliding cupholder cover is just weird. In places that should be swathed in leather, there is carbon fiber. In places where there should be wood or carbon fiber, there is leather. The lack of buttons along with a small screen is a very 2010 thing that already looks dated-- either have a big screen like Volvo or Tesla or have some actual buttons like the Germans.

280SE, I agree with your thoughts on the interior. I was enthused about the CT6 when it was introduced, great reviews, bespoke technology, etc. The exterior was too restrained, but overall not a miss. I drove it and it is outstanding. The interior was the deal killer. Preforated leather on the dask? The dash was flat across the wideth of the interior. It was absoluterly a letdown. That and they wasted valuable marketing resources and credibility pushing the 4 cylinder? On a full sice Caddy?!
Also, all the talk about the Escala and this is what it results in - a front end????

We could grab a group of people from this site and design a better choices. Not the EV guys though.

They should drop the Alpha-numeric and give this a name. I suggest Cimmaron II.
Following the legendary heritage of taking a Chevy, changing nothing but the grill and adding more leather for a significant upcharge.

just copy audi, lincoln or volvo for christ sakes. this is terrible. how can so many engineers always get it wrong??? cheap cheap cheap. honda accord sport for $28k has an interior better than this.

@280SE...the interior is laid out the way it is because they took the Acadia interior and put Cadillac materials and switchgear into it. This car is a classic example of GM cost engineering.

Lincoln is looking at this and are like “and we were worried about THIS??? Full steam ahead to slaughter the market with the Aviator”

on par with the new BMW X7...except the known engine options. Cadillac has access to too many more powerful powerplants for them not to be an option in the XT6.

and most people should go back & look at the production Aviator - not the concept SUV. the XT6 is fitting competition. the interiors are both nice however executed differently.
