Ford Motor Co. and Volkswagen Group on Tuesday said they will collaborate on commercial vans and midsize pickups, and are exploring the joint development of autonomous and electric vehicles as part of a broad partnership designed to save both companies money.

That is a gross oversimplification. So you're saying the descendants of a despicable person are as bad and reprehensible? That is bigotry and hatred for certain.

It is like a square dance now. Everyone is going to need to partner up to maximize resources. Ford - VW makes sense.

Electrification, autonomous driving, new technologies, new competition, expanded model ranges, alternative fuels, etc eat up enormous amounts of capital with uncertain outcomes and high risk. Add in industry wide overcapacity and cost,
risk, and development sharing between companies makes sense in theory. Industry consolidation on a large scale seems inevitable down the road.
