Should GM Sell Tesla An Assembly Plant Minus The Workers?
GM CEO Mary Barra confirmed Friday that the company has discussed selling assembly operations -- potentially slated for closure this year -- to Tesla Inc.

Barra, speaking during an investor conference in New York, said there "have been conversations;" however, "Tesla is not interested in our GM work force represented by the UAW, so really, it's a moot point."

GM is ending production at four U.S. plants in 2019, including Lordstown Assembly in Ohio and Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly in Michigan. The plants potentially could close, but such actions are still subject to union negotiations.

Yes they should. And then they can pick from the best of the best employees that worked for GM. The skillset is there, they just need to hire for fit and bring on those who will work well in a union free environment.

She has a responsibility to her shareholders to maximize the value of the plant to GM. With the question of whether to sell to Tesla being in the public arena the GM board of directors should be asking her this question, well before it might be brought to them for approval.

Better question: Why isn't GM offering to build cars for people instead of selling?

The LAST thing Tesla needs to add to their operations issues is dealings with the UAW.

Should GM Sell Tesla An Assembly Plant Minus The Workers?

The question should be >>>

Does Tesla Have the money to buy a GM plant.

I can see the high stakes financing being worked out on Wall Street with Elon at the table smoking weed !!!

It seems to need to be said from reading some of the above posts, the sale of a car plant is separate from the production equipment (can be included or not, all or in part) and has zero whatsoever to do with whoever used to work their or what they used to build in the plant. US automakers are overloaded with real estate assets related to underutilized plants. All should be turned into cash whenever possible.
