SPIED on the STREET! 00R Catches The All-new BMW X7 In The FLESH In Manhattan
While it's only mid-January and the all-new BMW X7 is slated to hit dealers around March, one slipped out from BMW North America's corporate headquarters located in my neck of the woods — New Jersey. I know this because I spotted the all-new X7 street parked on Riverside Drive.

Painted a dark hue, it was doing its very best to blend in with the other autos; however, given the X7's size and presence, I noticed it right away.

SPIED on the STREET! All-new BMW X7 Spotted!

From a size perspective, it is really in line with the current-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. Definitely sizable but not crazy like the all-new extended Ford Expedition or Lincoln Navigator.

Equipped with the M Sport package, it's got a good look without being over the top. Color me impressed and I haven't been an X7 fan until today.

Given the 2020 7-Series looks clown-ish, there's no question in my mind that the X7 is going to be mobbed when it hits showroom floors.

Hmmm, looks rather forgettable on the street, the decade old 3 series parked behind it has more presence

Does new 7 shares the same headlight/rearlight with X7? BMW designers are so lazy

I really dislike the upright front of these BMWs. I suppose the European safety regs have a lot to do with that.

Is it possible to make a giant minivan look cool? I don't think so.

De Muro has such a "mama's boy and I live in her basement" kind of voice.

It would look a bit better with chrome trim than all black trim. In one shot the hood seems to long for the truck. Optics? It is a big 3 row SUV and a bit slab sided. But the X5 is no different in that regard.

The waist line between the windows and the metal appears a bit low. I know that is BMW’s design theme, but it’s not helping. Reminds me of a Subaru Forester.

The Merc GLS is more truck like and just comes across as having a better build for day to day life with a family. I’d have it over this.

This is a vehicle that needs chrome around the greenhouse.

Don't you know BMW is anti-chrome commie?

Size matters.

The X7 lacks presence. There is nothing special about it. I suspect just as the S-Class outsells the BMW 7-Series by a huge margin, the Mercedes GLS will outsell the X7 by a huge margin. The X7 will deliver a sport first philosophy to an SUV segment that values luxury over sport.

BMW needed to come up with a very compelling offering to take sales away from the Mercedes GLS but the X7 won't be up to the task.

This needed to be more "Escalade" than a fluffy puffy X5.

There are BMW fans and MB fans... this will sell well to the crowd who are loyal to the brand and possibly some conquests from other brands too. The GLS has a star on the hood and that alone will keep their fans loyal. That said the GLS 550 is IMO a classic, not G-Wagen classic but it looks like a Mercedes. The previous GLK also is in that category. Not a fan of either the GLE or the GLC.

I like the brash in your face, new face of this BMW, the grille is toothy and some will love it some will hate it. I hope they don't make it look like a little dog taking a crap by turning it into a "coupe".

Chrome surround for the greenhouse and limo-dark privacy glass should help the look. But it still isn’t much to look at. Ironically I find the new grill a better fit for the 7 series than the X7.

The X7/X5 interior is a vast improvement over the 2nd and 3rd generation X5's. X7 definitely looks better with luxury/chrome exterior accents. In comparison to upcoming MB GLS a lot depends on personal taste. I was never a fan of the GLS column mounted shifter and foot pedal parking brake. Prefer BMW infotainment design. X7 is on my list for 2020. Read the "X8" is going to copy the silhouette of the X2, four seater, with even more luxury.

Conservative design, ugly front schnozz of a grill. Otherwise yawn.

The BMW X7 has the terrible proportions of that Jeep "Commander" 7-seater SUV from 2010. Its just bad.
